what is the deal with blue ray
Waiting for PS3 (like everyone else). Although I am interested onyl for the games what is the deal with blueray verses HD DVD? Are more manufacters behind the HD banner (only cause everytime Sony tries to create its own standard everyone else buys the other one)

Blu Ray seems like a good offering from Sony - as the PS3 is less then $700 and comes with the Blu Ray built in.
The HD DVD however seems to be the best - only because I am a huge Toshiba fan and the critics say this is where it is going to go.

Personally I am siding with Blu-Ray as it has a Higher storage capacity than HD DVD and also it has better Read Speeds, but as was the case with the Beta/VHS wars, the best technology is not always the one that wins.
So I am going to wait until at least the Spring to start to see where aliances are and who is bringing a better offering, as everyone in the end only wants 1 standard as it costs so much more to have to produce movies in 3 standards (DVD, HD DVD, and Blu-Ray) and once the HD/Blu-Ray Battle has been won, they will kill off their production of DVD's and move everything to the new Standard.
