The new AVG sucks >=(
Im using avast home edition. Best part is its free and no key gen needed. :thumbsup:
It seems to catch more then AVG. AVG's new release has become the old style snorton where its a resource hog and does jack. There's also a lot of issue with the new AVG.. just google it. I'm not sure if they fixed it or not.. but I"m sure as heck won't be using AVG
I use comodo for firewall BTW

I used AVG for about 4 years, but then was told by the techies that recommended it to me that the new AVG was less effective than the older versions. They convinced me to switch over to Avast! No problems yet.

I am not using a free one anymore. I had issues with Avira the last time it was installed, but Spyware Doctor was not too bad - I am thinking about 40 bucks maybe? Just installed NOD32 the other night and so far its working awesome and its damn quick too.

I used to like AVG until I got Avast. I like Avast because you know its working for you. It will stop you in the middle of what you are doing if a virus tries to load on your system or it will abort your internet connection if you happen to wander on to an infected site, AVG didn't ever do that for me.
Give Avast a try... you'll be glad you did.

Also a few trojans that do get flagged up can sometimes be legitimate cookies on your system.
I'd make sure that I only visit sites that I 100% trusted.
I've used AVG free for years.

ive definatly got a virus, ive tried a few anti virus programs and none want to update. this is after i accidentally downloaded some wini something or other antivirus and it attacked my system. i still see traces of it in the task manager still, called bdg.exe and the other one i believe is mom.exe. is there a program i can download that is up to date to wipe this garbage out?

Try Ccleaner (formerly Crap Cleaner). You can get it at filehippo or download.com or about a million other places. Run the analyzer before you run the cleaner and make sure it's not about to delete any folder you want to keep, and then clean that crap out!
