Bad to buy a srt-4 now

id rock out an srt-4 in a second. theyare nice cars. i say go for it. i dont think cause its discontinued that it should matter. look at civics, they are on their 4363642nd generation. why? cause honda cant let go. instead of discontinuing it, they make a new one that in no way shape or form resembles a previous civic except for the name. its an entirely new car, with the same name. all this to keep the name and make people feel as if they know what they are really buyin. so no, i dont think just cause its discontinued that he shouldnt get it.

If he likes it.. I say go for it ( he's/she's the one that's going to be payin for it for X years ulitmately he/she live with it for x years.. if they can see themselves with it for lets say 4-5 years ( and like it still ) then do it )..
Being discontinue is fine... they will still produce parts for couple more years ( that and I"m sure a few parts are still interchangeable with other models )
Who knows.. it maybe the next mini GNX?? Its discontinued for quite some time.. but everyone still knows what it's potential is. ( same with supra )
Besides.. being discontinued means if they can maintain it for many years.. it'll be a rarity <-- sp?
EDIT: I never looked into how well they hold there value.. so it will also depend on if they want to drive it to the ground or not

SRT4s are kinda cool. But they are FWD cars with a big *** turbo.
They are discontinued but the Calibre SRT4 is due next year.
i believe they will have serious relaibility issues later in their lives, cuz the things puts out alot of friggin horesepower for a very cheap platform.

The good thing is they are being sold for a very good price right now. I would buy from a private sale than the dealer unless your friend is going to finance. The good thing is people are crashing them all them all the time so finding spare parts will be easy. The car looks sweet *** and hauls *** I'd buy one in a second but them I'm biased aren't I

getting a 2.0sx and swapping might not be as easy as you think and the interior wont look as good. Check neons.org but what you would spend to find the engine and all the necessary components, interior and do the swap you might end up paying just as much or more than just buying the SRT.

Id say go for it, he should be able to find one for about 20gs
sx2.0 and swapping it wont be VERY hard, you could prolly find a smashed srt-4 and get everthing in the sx for about 5gs, oh and all the body parts will go on without ne mods needed (front bumper and rear)

It was discontinued because they were losing too much money on warranty claims. It turns out that when you market a car towards young and aggressive drivers, your cars will break, regardless of how much testing you've done. It's a lot easier for an idiot driver to claim a problem under warrenty then it is for Dodge to prove that the problem arose from misuse.
Why do you have so much hate for Civics?

I think they were stupid to cancel production. It has been replaced by a god ugly station wagon. The car was being accepted by compact tuners and was giving a showing for the neon name. So what do they do axe it? grrrrrr

Those cars are pretty damn cool. They have the cooler in the glove box and those speakers that fold down out of the rear hatch...... Oh god, now everyone hangin out at Tims is gonna have their sh*#ty music blasting across the parking lot so that we all have to know how ghey they are. Stupid Dodge. Still like the 300 hp though.
