Oh boo hoo they used the name from one of their old cars. I bet this car out performs the original Charger in every aspect of performance (not sure about straight line though). So aside from having two extra doors, why is it so bad that they re-used their name? I could see how there would be a problem if it were a boring car like the Neon, but it's a V8 powered agressively styled sedan...

Besides... who said that there isn't going to be a 2-door...

The Dodge Challenger 2dr coupe is coming next. (to replace the junk stratus coupe fwd) Its going to be RWD, 3.5L V6, 5.7 HEMI, and rumours abound of a 7.0L HEMI (426 cubic inch) 500HP SRT version. Its already in advanced levels of planning.

The Charger Rite now is pretty much a 300C rip-off, Still looks decent, but they should have brought a 2 door to compete with the 05'Stang and 05"GTO. The GTo on the other hand is a scam! Go to Australia and Buy a Morano or whatever slap a Pontiac emblem , imprt it to North america and brag that you have a GTO. Ohh wait thats what they did.
and yes I gaurantee the new R/T does have better handling and power but like you said most likely the orig. R/T would own it on the straighaways.

It would be a good race between a "tuned" 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 426 HEMI, A833 4spd, 4;10 dana car with no options against a new SRT Charger.

Awhile back musclecar review did a old vs new thing, Boss 428 VS 5.0, 455 GSX VS Grand national, Viper VS 69 HEMI Charger, Judge VS LT1 firebird etc etc.. The only new car that won was the viper and the charger grenaded the clutch on the first pass.
