5.0 info
ok so coming from knowing vw's almost in and out, i am kinda lost about some mucle car stuff. can u guys post some link of like good 5.0 info or if u would be nice enuf to right stuff. like i am confused about the gear ratios, and like if u get a catback exhuast and x pipe and headers is the x pipe in the middle or something can u post a pic of one on a car? there is alot of other stuff i cant think of.
and like if u have anylinks of how ho much and 5.0 get from mods. like how much from a catback exhaust and intake cam ect......... how much power can there buttom end with stand i herd around 500 but i am not sure. how much power can stock cluthes hold? will there trannys hold up to 500 hp? also sub frame connectors, can someone post a pic of one, and one installed on a car. i know all the basics and crap about engines but not that much about drive trian, and suspetion.

Go visit http://www.steeda.ca and click on the mustang parts link to find what you are looking for. There are different ways to look at how much power a specific part will garner, if combined with another part chances are the power will increase rather than if the part were to be used by itself. So its hard to say. Buy some issues of Muscle Mustangs And Fast Fords, it should give you some background info and lay the groundwork in your head on how things work and why. I could sit here and type a novel but I'd rather you learn on your own than for me to spell it all out for ya.

u ever get those also i was wondering the difference in shorty headers and full length headers? is it just the design? or is it accauly shorter? witch i dont get how a header can be shorter unless you modify your exhaust system. also does the exhaust system go headers, x pipe or h pipe, cat back exhast. i am confused about the x pipe and h pipe, do they attatch to the headers then connect them to the catback exhaust? coming from imports i am confused about that they jus have header, then catback exhuast.

1. The difference is in length. There are different kind of shorty headers, there are mid length headers (not very popular), and there are Long tube headers. Stock 86-95 5.0 Mustangs come with Unequal length short tube headers. The aftermarket sells headers similar in design to stock but with larger and more efficient tubes (Primaries). Equal length shorty headers are just that, all the primary tubes are the same length. This helps to increase power, but isnt worth the extra cost and extra time required to change spark plugs. Long tube headers have MUCH longer primary tubes, and cannot be used with a stock or stock style H pipe. You wouldf have to use the appropriate H or X pipe. The purpose of long tube headers is to increase power production in relation to a system that requires them for optimal power production. Most stock or near stock Stangs benefit from aftermarket Shorty headers.
2.The exhaust system starts at the headers, into the H/X/Y pipe and proceeds into the "cat back" system. Technically, imports have a "mid pipe" between the header/manifold and the catalytic convertor. So technically, the X/H/Y pipe is a combination of Mid Pipe and Catalytic convertors.
I hope this helps.
