You can't just say twins are better than single. As with anything in automotive performance, its all about COMBINATION COMBINATION COMBINATION. It comes down to your needs and wants. You can run a single turbo from a V8 and make excellent power throughout the RPM range, but this usually comes with the side effect of some TURBO LAG (depending on turbo sizing). You can also run a pair of twins, with smaller exhaust housings but larger compressor housings to have little to no LAG but quick spool up. Usually, when you want quick spool you sacrifice top end power. The same can be said for the opposite, want top end you sacrifice low end power. It all comes down to your combination, what is your useable RPM range, what are your goals and requirements for the car, purpose (street, strip or both?) etc.
The main differences are, obviously, that with a single turbo BOTH banks of the V8 engine will feed one turbo and with a twin turbo each bank feeds a single turbo.
Any other questions?
