fox tranny
whats a good 5spd tranny to use in a fox 5L? something good and strong, able to hold about 300-400rwhp in the future? the car is now an automatic with a shift kit but if i do purchase the car i would swap to a manual tranny in the near future. it's my cousins 89 LX and the car is just so nice it doesnt bother me at all that i'd have to swap out the automatic for a manual, a friend of mine did the same to his 89 and the process went smoothly. also where would you guys suggest taking it to get it done? what seems to be the clutch of choice for mostly street driving with some pretty hard passes too once and a while?

Your best bet is to go with a Tremic T-5, they are high dollars but they are very strong, and bolt in place just like a stock T-5. As far a clutch goes, depending how much HP you could go with a King Cobra Clutch or up grade further to a Centre Force. If your looking for a shop to do the work I would recommend:

thanks, will the tremec t-5 be able to hold big power safely, like possibly KB s/c power? the king cobra clutch should be ok for 350whp eh? would it be worth maybe going with an OE one until the s/c goes in cause im ont gonna lie it wouldnt be any time soon, car would be mostly stock with a set of 4.10's and some bolt ons, that clutch may be a little much to drive daily.

IMO, depends on the budget.
If youre trying to save buy used. A used tremec can be had for as low as $1200 ive seen. THere used to be a place shipping em to your door for $2200.
Also, consider buying a kingcobra clutch and going ceramic with no springs. THers a place in Oakville that can build one for you relativly cheap. SHould be could do with stand 600 HP .... mind you, your clutch will feel more as a off and on than a gradual engage.. so it may made for an unpleasent drive.

Yep, get yourself a nice Tremec 5 speed with an upgraded clutch (King Cobra, Centerforce Dual Fricition, Luk HD) and you will be able to handle the power very well. Don't get extreme with the clutch, and install an adjustable clutch cable to set your pedal feel, and you will have a pleasant clutch that you wont curse at every time you get stuck in traffic. My King Cobra clutch felt awesome and handled the power fine.
