I was gonna do strut bracing, 3.55 gears, and lowering of the car about an inch. Not too much for now. Eventually I want to do a 5 lug conversion and 4 wheel discs all around. Slowly but surely she is getting faster and more fun

Would I regret doing the 3.55's over the 3.73's? I still need a touch of highway mileage, but for the most part it is just a city car.

You probably wont see any difference between 3.55s and 3.73s in combined city/highway driving. If its all highway, then you might see a 20-30km/tank difference. I suggest the 3.73s on any mostly stock bolt on Stang. Your list of mods sound good, but dont forget to install subframe connectors as soon as possible. Any spirited driving will wreak havoc on a Fox Body Stang.

What do you think the RPM difference would be between the two? How about the 1/4 mile times? I just want the car to be a fairly quick street/strip car for what it is. Minor mods that will make it more fun really. I don't run the stip, just stoplight to stoplight. I was kinda thinking 3.73's would be a little much, but please teach me otherwise. If they are more to my likeing I would rather do it right the first time as opposed to having to change it a few months later. And I mean, anything will feel huge compared to the stock 2.73's.

Any other info you give me would be awesome. Thanks

Thank ya...do you have any input on the topic? I need info!!! Still have a few months before I was going to start anything, but I figure I might as well start planning now.

My SPL project it taking up all my time right now, but I will make time for my stang'. Anything to get her faster and meaner.

RPM difference will be minimal, the 3.73's will only sit 150-200 RPM higher than the 3.55s. Any gear ratio will make a HUGE difference over the 2.73s, a set of 3.73s will feel like you added 80HP from idle to redline. If you're not too sure, just go with 3.55s as they are still a great gear. My recommendation stands at 3.73.

Deal....will consider the 3.73's. The only reason was fighting for the 3.55's was because I can get some for $100.00. But for the extra little big of money...who knows. I will take it all into consideration. Thanks SS. You make me want to put them in right now...I hate this addiction sometimes.

Been in your world for a long long time...just getting a little money now so I can actually do something about it. It's all downhill from here I am sure. As far as subfame connectors...do you guys recommend welding or just bolting. I assume welding, but is there a noticeable difference between the two? As well...with changing gearing, is it essential to change the spiders and play with the dif at all?

I know all this should go in the tech section, but since I have your attention I figured I would just ask here. Plus, I am too lazy to start another thread.

Yep, once there is a little bit of money available to throw at the car you will find any way possible to make sure there is "a little money" available to mod her. Its disgusting, you'll put your car before your children and relationships lol.
I remember once while cruising in my Stang with my ex gf I was listening to Ludacris, and on one track he starts it off by saying "This ones for all the guys who spend more on their car than their relationships". She found that pretty fitting, I dont think I'll ever forget the bitching I got that day on the way back from the track.
You wont need to play with the spiders or anything, unless your car is doing the infamous one wheel peel. If both tires spin hard and right away then its usually in good shape, you could have it rebuilt at the same time as the gear swap though..... its good insurance.

That's the truth, hence why I don't have a g/f right now. They find it funny initially, but after they realize it's the truth (the car comes before them) not so funny anymore. Well, that and I'm a jerk to them. Either way, my car is the most important thing in my life and not much will change anytime soon. It's my first car, and my baby. When she finally dies a ground up resto will be in order. Can't Wait!!!

imported_admin_old should buy a rope to hang!
Def weld the subrames. When i bought my 93 they came installed, car doesnt have any rattles or od things going on. Then i added a strut tower brace and BAM, car was tight.. Followed by a torque arm and panhard...

The car is amazing. Ive driven a few lowered with springs stangs and they still handle like butter in a frying pan....

S.S. is pretty tech suave.. listen to him, i dont build often, i buy or pay.
