Starter Trouble

Starter Trouble
Sometimes when I go to start the car...all I hear is a whining noise from the starter...is my started pooched, or is there a dead spot on the flywheel? Sounds like the starter just whines. Broken teeth maybe?
It does this sometimes, then I wait a few seconds and then try again and she fires right up. It started a few days ago and is getting progressively worse. Lastnight I had to try 6 times before she finally caught and turned the beast over...
Please help, I dont wanna be stranded anywhere!!!

Yeah, that's what I figured...even when it turns over, if you listen carefully you can hear the started whining during the initiail cranking. Sucks monkey *****. Oh well....I will check the bolts, and if that isn't it...a new started I guess it is
Thanks guys...

well it just happened that my starter "died" on my stang....... i first went to check the bolts and found that one of the mounting ears had snapped off.
oh are you aware that there is a hole that you can put a long extention through to get the top bolt on the starter? right above the spring perch. not many people know of it so i figured i would let you know. have fun

thanks for the help...and I never knew about the hole in the spring perch.
So I found out that the top bolt on the started had worked itself almost all the way out, and there was a gap of about 3/4 an inch from the started to the flywheel.
Tightened that bad boy up and she's like brand new again. The bottom bolt started to work itself out a little as well, but I caught it soon enough
