Got this from a guy on MNfbody.com
cool to hear the firebird is being considered now 
it has been confirmed by this time of the year 2008 you can put ur order in for a 08 camaro. delivery date will be fall of 08 at the latest. we had one of our GM reps come yesterday and i asked him when i can get my name on a list for one and those are the dates he gave me. firebird still up in the air though but not ruled out yet. first year will be coups only second year is convertables and no t-top or targa top in the works. prices from 20,000 - 35,000

Just opens up more options for the aftermarket..I wouldn't be surprised to see companies offering kits for it.

I heard Scott say that the Firebird would not be returning.
I've already said I won't be buying the new Camaro myself. They were willing to pull the plug on the car so I'm not willing to buy from them. Plus getting rid of the TTops is just plain stupid, that's one of the things that makes FBodies so much fun.

ttops weren't factory until very late in the second gens, and GM is the only company that stuck with them through all their issues (they weaken the cars structure, and are notorious for leaks)
