98-04 Cadillac STS, Worth it?

I am looking at my options for vehicles and i would like something with luxury, power and reliability. Before I was all about power and i was looking at a Eagle Talon TSI AWD 2nd gen, or a 89-91 Honda crx with a b20. Now I have come across the 98-04 Cadillac STS which i must say has drawn my attention. I was wondering is this car a good buy or should i put my money into something different? I like the fact that stock its got the 32v Northstar pushin 300hp and the interior is flawless, looks amazing and its got some nice bells and whistles. The exterior of course its a boat but it looks sexy and i have always had a thing for caddies. So give me some feedback, should i spend the money or not?

They are very comfortable, very soft cars, the drivetrain is very reliable, but its FWD, which makes it pretty gay for a caddy. but IMO its a great looking car, not much is more badass then one of these in good shape.

FWD is better all-year round but not fun in a Caddy!

The Northstar engines are fairly quiet and the cars excellent for cruising around and long trips(if you don'y mind the shi*y gas mileage :P)

my g/f's grandfather has one and i only got the thrill of sitting in the backseat for 3hours to Sauble beach. on rough roads you float along nicely...the interior feels like your sitting in an expensive leather couch.

probably one of the most confortable cars ive sat in.

if your comparing a caddy to a crx or a talon ur comparing 2 different classes of cars. Caddilac is more expensive to maintain, probably more expensive to insure, more expensive on fuel, but the ride and the options u get with it are far more superior than a crx or talon, if this is ur first car it probably isnt a good buy, if u have money and u dont mind spending a few dollars here or there then this is a great car

My parents have a 95...which is pretty much the same as the 98+..I've driven it quite a bit. Awesome vehicle when it's running right. Incredibly smooth, surprisingly easy to manuver, great power...the northstar is really nice and smooth. The best thing is the 'stealth effect'...It's great seeing the looks on people faces after they've had their *** handed to them by a grandpa mobile. Gas mileage is no worse than my 4.3 Sonoma, so no biggie there.

But there is a few bad things about it....insurance for a younger person sucks(I wanted to get one instead of my truck....but insurance was gunna be high). And most of all repair costs are terrible, and frequent..ours has 150,000km's on it(and it's been babied since new) and it costs us probably about 2-4k in repairs every year - not including regular maintence. So if you can handle that...or do the repairs yourself, then enjoy the caddy.

Alright let me say a few things i am 19 i will prob be 20 when i buy another car, i got one 15 over speeding ticket, and the reason why i would much rathe prefer this over the talon or crx, is becuase i have read what is happening to these idiots gettin caught doin 50 over and needless to say i think i would be less intrigued to race in the caddy. I could be wrong but i think i would be cruisin instead of racing. The insurance thing doesnt really bother me cuz i can pay that with poker or at least i hope:P

I owned a 97 for a week.
I bought the car used and on the first day it over heated. a month later I got the car back and I must say really classy, relaxing, powerfull, pimp mobile. AND THEN I FILLED HER UP. These cars have around a 80L tank and they require premium.

I say you wanna pimp get it if not dont even entertain the idea.

cadillacs

hey, i currently have 3.2 2003 Cadillac CTS. Its bad. In your case, I dont know if the northstar engine is a good idea. i heard these cars are being sold for less by dealerships because less people are buying them due to cost of gas. the pic you posted is kinda cool though. its your choice, but i would recommend to stay away from huge engines. but thats just my opinion.
