98+ taillights on a 93?

Can you use the 98 and up taillights on a 93 Camaro? My friend said that the way the lights are set up, the ambers will always be on and the reds would be your turn signals. I was just wondering because some guy wants to give me a set of them that I would like to black out so I don’t have to use my stock ones. Also, I was thinking that if they’re blacked out you wouldn’t even really see what color they were, would you?

You can use the 97+ tails on a previous year, but you do have to adjust the wiring. Otherwise the ambers will be lit up with the outer red and the amber will light up as your brake lights. My car is that way- I kinda like it because its different. It passed inspection that way too..so I know its not legal, but it passed- good enough for me!!

Uhhh... that's not 'different', that's f-cking DANGEROUS. You could get rear ended like that VERY easy.

If you want I'll sell you a '97-'02 wiring harness as well as the lights.
