97z2801ss 10-11-2006 01:39 AM

I do believe i have a set for da SS

98CamaroZ28 10-11-2006 01:48 AM

I couldn't believe that My dad actually let me do something to my Camaro for once! I was so happy when he approved of this mod... I was like thank U so much. I've been wanting to put my own money into my car for sum time....the only mods my dad let me do was K&N because he realized the better hp gain and no more replacing filters along with new spark plugs and drilled and slotted rotors, atleast he saw the safety inhancment and allowed me to do so on the drilled and slotted rotors, I told him these new lights would further enhance my visability on the road while looking hella cool at the same time, so he's like yea I think they would look really agressive. And he came up to me tonight and said "Hey Bud, Lets order those lights you've been talking about" man I am still pretty amazed that my dad even considered this...Well this might be due to me getting straight A's so far...

BlueZee28 10-11-2006 02:21 AM

That's great news. Those will look good on your car...But how come your dad is so picky about how you spend YOUR money?

My parents have always had this thing..."it's your money, spend it the way you want to, but don't come crying to us saying you need gas money because you spent it all on your car" :lolsign:

paarman97maro 10-11-2006 03:14 AM

Yeah I was so glad after I moved out, they no longer had a say or 'dissaproved' of how I spent my money. Youll notice I modded my car more from August 05-present than I ever did before that...for a reason haha.

Those will look nice. I think all 98+ should be required to have halos. At least they sort of stops looking like chrysler lights... Plus halos beams look badass.

97z2801ss 10-11-2006 08:38 AM

FORCE_FED_Z 10-11-2006 06:22 PM

x2-

Those Halos usually look good- but only if they are installed correctly..make sure you take the time to make sure they are lined up correctly!!

camaro_chic17 10-12-2006 02:09 AM

It's wierd that some of your parents don't want u to mod your cars. I've never had that issue.

it's all in who's paying for certain things (not to mention taste sometimes plays a huge role) my parents let me do whatever I wanted, but I had a job before I could drive (worked on my grandfathers farm, and then worked at a grocery store)

98CamaroZ28 10-12-2006 01:48 PM

yea my dad is very picky, because he wants the Camaro to be a classic one day...so yea. Its hard to convince my dad to let me do anything to the camaro.

69z-28 10-12-2006 04:20 PM

my dad will warn me about stupid things, usually i dont consider anything dumb tho, like butchering it up somehow.

dont take this the wrong way...but 4th gens are quite a while away from being a "classic"...the entire 3rd gen line will be classics way before an LS1 becomes one...and only a few of the 3rd gens have become classics so far, like a '92 Heritage car, or a Firehawk, Turbo Trans Am...

Im talking 50 to 60 years down the road...in the future i want to restore and work on this car, mabe untill the day I die, but you never know...

FORCE_FED_Z 10-12-2006 06:29 PM

50-60 years down the road huh? I will bet anyone here that in 50 or 60 years gasoline motors will be about as popular as the telegraph and steam engines...

98CamaroZ28 10-12-2006 06:31 PM

haha mabe...

You watch that vid about the GM Hydrogen powered car? Pretty nuts, but theyre steering / acceleration setup is odd lol. But I have to admit the lift off frame idea is great, even though its old.

is there a difference between J-Spec and JDM?

97z2801ss 10-12-2006 08:37 PM

your dad wont be alive long enough to see it

I dont get why he wont let u mod ure car... lame reason if u ask me

98CamaroZ28 10-12-2006 08:41 PM

It was his car since 98 and its my graduation present this year..he wants a car to have an original look and wants to look and stay clean...So i am going to repect that since it's the best thing he has ever given to me...I repect that guy alot, hes a good dad. He is in the army, currently making his way to being an E-8 which is a master sargeant...he has been in the military for almost 20 years and has been to combat and has served his country, so why not listen to him. Im sure he has his reasons for not letting me do stuff...sorry for being off topic...just wanted to put in my .02 cents.

here's is a great example...

Yea, I really dont like to take things for granite...Though everyone does, i did when I got my speeding ticket, the day I went to court my dad was there for me in his uniform, and my case was dissmissed, I almost paid 362$ out my pocket, but thanks to my dad, i think he really perswaded the judge when he notice that my dad was there to support me and that he was in the military. Even though i got chewed out and grounded, it was over all better then paying for this ticket, BTW it was 67mph in a 35mph zone( I was actually at 80mph then started to slow down when the cop passed me) it was a very dumb thing, anyways...The judge had said the Cop did not write down how fast he was going when he clocked me...so i guess "technically" he had to throw the case out...which of course he didnt...(off topic)

Phate 10-12-2006 08:51 PM

I wish more people had the same view and respect you do to be honest.

FORCE_FED_Z 10-13-2006 05:10 PM

While under the parents roof you have to respect the laws that are laid down- I don't question you for that at all. But at the same time I know what its like. 5 years ago it was hard buying parts and having them delivered to the parents and explaining what they were to the parents without them questioning it.

There are quite a few things you can do to the car that aren't permanent, won't affect resale in the future at all if you keep the stock parts. But honestly, there are so many cars out there, the chances of yours being worth a lot down the road are slim to none. The older cars that are fetching the high dollars are the ones that have been in storage since they rolled off the factory.

Just keep it clean and you will have a nice looking car.

TorqueDog 10-14-2006 06:52 PM

People really need to stop calling everything JDM though. There is nothing JDM about those lights... yet the image says they are.

I love the black Halo lights though, if I ever get a 98+ Chev, you better believe I'm putting those on, very first mod.

98CamaroZ28 10-15-2006 12:42 AM

yea, I'm so glad I bought them, it really does make the Camaro loook sexy...I wonder if they'd look good on the twin brother TransAm...hmm or if they even make them for T/A's...nope but they do have halo fog lights for them...
