the v6 has the same hp (well pretty close anyway) and will outlast a 305 by about double

im not sure about out last b/c my 305 is still running really well, n the hp isnt that close, the 3.4 was rated at 160, but i kno he has mods on it, but still, the 305 can be pushed easily to 225+ with work. i wanna turbocharger on mine. (if i ever get the $) plus theres torque, something i like, and the v8 makes way more i belive.

btw: my milage so far is 142,xxx and it dosnt leak anything. which is good so i can keep it in the driveway.

they dont even have roller cams, my 305 i ran a best of 14.1 with a 2.23 60ft and 170k on the bottom end (i know you guys have heard this story before but deal with it ) bottom end was stock, top end was vortec heads/performer rpm air gap intake/zz4 cam 208/221
.505/.544 lift with a 1.6 ratio rocker and a completely untuned no idea of the jet size 650 double pump holley. 3.73s in the rear too forgot to mention. But anyways definetly a 13 sec car with traction, who knows with a great tune and like a 1.6 60 ft i can almost guarantee i had a 12 sec 305 with 170k on the bottom. Id like to see a v6 do that and spend that little. But his decision. I think you guys know where i stand on this matter

ok so do the same work on a 3.4 and see what happens gm even says average life on a 305 is 100,000 miles, also the third gens had the lowest build quality of all the f body generations (that time frame was awful for all american auto makers and the reason honda, and toyota have the position they do) the 305 in '90 was rated at 210 hp the 3.4 is 160 so there is a small difference (add milage and the 305 looses more since the cams were notorious for going flat) torque difference was only 85 lb ft

v8s are awesome, but i'm gonna go w/ arch on this one, my vote is don't buy the iroc...and use the 800 you would be spending on it and put it towards a blower

the cam lobes are soft on the 305 it eats them there are recalls that's part of why gm killed it off they spent more on warranty repairs than they did to develop an engine that didn't have the worst efficiency on the market

my 305 tpi is goin on 143,xxx miles soon, it doesnt leak a drop of anything, just gotta take care of it, but thats true for any car. my build quality seems pretty good too considering its in better shape than our v6 maro. (1995 3.4 v6) any even still, just because the build quality might of been lower, that dosnt mean it was just thrown together, its still a solid car, mine feel pretty solid n i drive it every where.

I say mod the '95. My brother had a V6 that would have beat 98% percent of the cars here. THe only reason i say this is because your sig already says lots of mods, so why not keep going...........
