Question Buying a car off of Ebay.

Has anyone done this before? I have been considering doing that since the used car market around here just sucks. Just wanna hear some of the experiences people have went through before I make a decision.

never did.. I'm a little leery of it myself. I almost bought a BMW through eBay, but it was only a hour drive or so away, I would have went to look first. Bought had to put a security dep. and rent on the house, so my plans went down pretty quick.

One more thing I should clarify is that this would be for long distance buying. Basically buy the car and have it shipped to me. If I could drive out and test drive the car myself I would not be worried but using E-bay for long distance purchases makes me nervous. But on the other hand people do it everyday and are happy with the results.

my freind bought a POS 68 camaro off ebay for 18000 and it was worth 10000 at the most maybe. be very cautious and make sure the person is straight forward and honest.

I understood what you meant.. I'm just saying that the only way I would do it was if I could see the car before hand, or had about 1000 pics, video, and audio of the thing. Other than that, I probably would never do it. Too easy to lie.

Lady I work with, her son(who is on his 20s) bought a quad off eBay. he checked the guys feedback, it was great, took some precautions before bidding, then decided to do it, and won the auction. Sent the money, and guess what? No quad. Someone had stolen the guys username and all that, and was running a scam through it. He'll never see that $$$ again.

Also, some poor girl contacted me a while back, saying that she had bought a 94 Camaro on eBay, turns out the guy running the auction was using a picture of MY car for her to bid on.

if you can find someone in the area to check it you'd be better off, it's a crap shoot, and you'd have to trust the seller quite a bit, sometimes you get lucky sometimes you get a guy from the dealership that's selling the junk the dealer doesn't want associated with them

I bought my 626 off Ebay and have been happy. I also bought my new Z off there too. Both times I think I made out ok- did a little better on the Mazda but I can't complain about the Z either.

Its a toss up, but its up to you..

after she won the auction she was cruising the net, and came across my website, so she e-mailed me asking if I had sold the car before to someone else, who was now selling it themselves.
