I/H/E
adjustable coil overs
projectors
HID kit
cry02 kit
grounding kit
front + rear strut bar
sway bar end link kit

body kit and CF hood on the way..

After just mentioning I/H/E and suspension work, all companies flat out say they wont insure me. I'm guessing if I decide not to tell the insurance company about my mods, and I make a claim (someone asshat isn't paying attention on the freeway and hits my car for example) when the adjuster comes out to see the damage, they will either cancel my insurance since I neglected to mention the mods, or will keep me on, but wont pay for any of the damage. I've asked these companies if they could put together a contract that lets me release them from the liability of replacing my modified parts, and only require them to repair my car with stock parts, but no go.

Man, I didn't know Canuckia was a communist country. :D j/k.

there is always the option of going right to faculty (sp), I know a few 240 guys with crazy $$$ in there car did this and they got coverage but its also more $$$

fury 01-25-2006 05:32 PM

BBProductions 01-25-2006 05:35 PM

facility (sp) meaning super high risk...every insurance co- has it
ie exremely bad record, etc etc...
insurance has to be available to everyone and evry car, even though some turn u down othres have to take you...

Well you don't always have to tell your insurance that your car got dammaged , you can always find a shop which will do the job for cheap and they won't tell your insurance.

If its a fender bender, ya no big deal, but if its $2k - 5k, I might as well buy a new car... which kinda sucks, thats part of the reason why we have insurance.

In here Insruance is there so these companies can make huuuuuuuuge profits (300% increase in pure PROFIT 2 yrs ago) and so that if you do hit some poor guy and he gets ed up, he gets alot of money.

Either way you look at it its ing BS. I got quoted 9-10k a year because I have 1 accident and am 19yrs old! insurance the whole industry, I hope some of these s have heart attacks and ing die!

Facility Association insurance is only offered by ING, Co-op, and Royal & SunAlliance, all other companies just contribute to the reserves. If you have a proper appraisal WITH a safety certificate, most companies will insure you, plus a pleasure rating (low km's per year) really helps. You never ever want to be in Facility, trust me, your in there for two reasons: bad credit history or a bad driving record, not for a modified car.

19yrs old and 1 accident is a HUGE risk for almost any company to write, to them if you have an at-fault claim at that early age you most likely will have more as you age.

As for the ins. company paying out for mods you didn't tell them about, no they will not cover it all. Think about it, you say you have a mustang and pay $250 a month, then a claim some time after, comes in saying the vehicle is heavily modified and is worth $25k. You only paid for what you told them you had which resulted in the $250 premium, thats what you'll get, book value excluding ALL mods.

And this is the problem. I want to at least have my important stuff covered (stereo, etc) and not get screwed with having my policy being cancelled because I didn't tell the insurance company about mods. The only problem is, I'll never be able to get an appraisal and safety cert to them since they will flat out not insure me. So how about this... Has anyone ever had to make a claim with their insurance company, had an adjustor come out, see that its a modified car, and not have a problem with it? if so, what company are you with?

Yes, me. They were not serious mods at the time but definetly mods to be noticed. Now my car needs an appraisal since a lot of time/money has been spent since then. You need to find a suitable broker who is familiar placing people like you, just get the safety and take lots of pictures. Thats what they worry about, if your car has cut springs it most likely won't pass a safety and could pose an accident risk, while a safely modified car is what they will write but you will pay the premium none the less.

Remember just insure what you want insured, if you don't want the wheels i.e. to be covered be prepared to never claim them for any loss.

Not sure if you've been actually reading this thread, but I AM looking to pay for insurance for a modded car. I'm not complaining that insurance is outrageous and I dont wanna pay the price, I'm looking for an insurance company that WILL take on a modified car. Perhaps you were looking at the wrong thread.
