Well drive around a loud car long enough and spin the tires, odds are eventually you'll get stopped. And you were right when you said if you had let if wouldn't have been a big deal more than likely. Probably figured since you didn't let off that you didn't care and knew you were doing it.
It sucks, but its the law. And yes you are right- you could have gotten a lot more tickets so I guess only one isn't that bad right?
p.s.- not every cop is a moron about cars, so I would becareful trying to pull some bs answers- it has the potential to make things worse...

yep deffinitley true joe. only thing that sucks is its my 2nd ticket in 12 months so my stupid "illegal squeeling of tires" ticket is going to give me 8 hours of traffic school not just 4.
i coulda dropped a cops name who has the procharged LS1 WS6 but, personally if i pulled over a kid and he dropped a fellow officers name, i woulda been like o good for you, heres your ticket. my dad seems to think i should dropped the name but i feel like an ignorant dick doing that personally so i just kissed the cops ***, thanked him and got the **** outa dodge. im very lucky he didnt ask me to roll my windows up, but they dont seem to care much around here. o well, you win some you loose some
