Dohc not working?

as the title says i bought a 2002 kio rio for my g/f couple of days ago and when i hit the gas it seems like the dohc is not kicking in. Any ideas on how to fix it. Or how to test it. I know those motors don't push out alot. it fells like a reguler 1.5L not a 1.5 dohc

Just disconnect the timing belt from one gear and see if it still runs? Oh but that won't work on a VW DOHC setup.

:hah:

Hahaha....

Anyways...

It may FEEEEEL like a SOHC...but if the thing runs...and u say it IS a DOHC...than the DOHC is "kicking in" HOWEVER just cuz u have SOHC or DOHC does not mean u'll FEEL a difference...the FEELING u get in a car is TORQUE...and having a DOHC version of a motor that also comes SOHC doe snot mean u gain more torque...it may however have in this case of a Kio like u said, i coulda sworn they r Kia's...makes 5HP more...

Its negligable to say the least...

EDIT: I actually just checked Kia's website and buddy, your an idiot...They dont even offer a SOHC engine for the new Rio...DOHC only...and the thing makes a pathetic 104HP at 5800rpms and 104ftlbs of torque at 4700rpms... THEREFORE ur feeling NOTHING...
