ECU programmer Q?

When I look for ECU programmers, why is it that I cant find one for a 98 Camaro, I see them for 97's and below, Diablo and ect make ecu programs but I havent seen any for late 4th gens, and websites or anyplace you can buy one, NOT EBAY PLZ:banghead:

'98's are weird and are alone on a couple things like this.

Personally I wouldn't bother with a tuner. Just find someone local to tune it using HPTuners or send the PCM away. The tune will be much better than what you'll do with a handheld unit.

yea thats what I was figuring, man you would think you could chip it because it is a ls1 vette engine, like could I take a vette's ecu and stick it on my Camaro?

No, it doesnt work that way.

Btw, its an ECM or PCM, never heard it called an ECU. Chipping is out, thats a quick way to ruin a motor. Handheld tuners are peices of junk. If you're going to get it done, take it to a shop with a dyno, do a few runs, and have a pro do it. If you dont have a local dyno-tune shop, PCMforless.com or similar sites for mail order tunes would be best.

Besides, what are you trying to tune the car for? Unless you have major mods, there is little to no point to tune it unless you're an auto and just want to change shift points.

yea, i really dont know anything about pcm or ecm tuning so i was just wondering about it...thanks for clearing up some stuff. Just removed the black lining in the engine bay, looks a lot better.

dyno tuning is the way to do it, especially one the 4th gens. i got to do a few of them actually.
