DB drag competition? They'll have a mic to do it. Basically, if it's uncomfortable, it's too loud. If your neighbours complain, it's too loud.

Put the dynamat over your ears.

Basically, any noise will damage your hearing over time. Anything that hurts or is bothersome is doing the job faster. Traffic, work, kids, the stereo or tv, wife or gf are all to blame.

If your exhaust is that loud that you think it may damage your hearing......it is!

Quiet is cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what..... if you mean by flying as in a pilot you need to pass a medical every 2 years(I think ... I forget, and then after 40 you need one every year). And in that medical, at least the ones I've taken, my hearing was never tested. Plus if you've ever been in most small planes they're louder than about 99% of cars.

for commercial pilots you have to do it ones a year, if ur over 40 u have to do it every 6 months...my teacher who's from transport canada flew small planes with no earplugs or headsets in his days and how his hearing is pretty bad, he has no problem passsing the test though which he does do it everytime, he's hearing is so bad he cant hear his own watch beeping, i was thinking y he never noticed it, lol but i still dont want to impair my hearing...i was thiking a resonator could help but how much?

You don't need to hear that well i nthe plane anyway ! Just turn up the radio ! It could just be him, my instructor flew floats for like 15 years and his hearing is pretty damn good, and he used to play in a band and everything.

my guess is u are not breaking 120 decibles. he wont be able to get it measured at a db drag event as those mics only go up to 130hz or so. the exhaust is a much higher frequency and would not get picked up by the db drag spl meter.
