head gasket vs. boring

for my 355 can i use a regular 350 head gasket? i was thinking i'd need a .030 overbore gasket, but i put the old gasket on the block and it still clears...

are most SB head gaskets the same regardless of bore?

with my dad, i've always used a wooden handled hammer, tap the ring compressor all the way down to the block and make sure its even, then have somebody guide the rod over the crank(theres a nice little plastic tool for that too) and just give the hammer a few good shoves and the piston should fall right in. if it gets hung up or acts weird remove it immediately and try again. you'll be fine.

I just used the rubber handle on my hammer to push them in. You will know immediately if it isn't right, light medium taps should be all that it takes.

And using the 350 gasket instead of the 355 will only raise your compression every so slightly, thats it.
