heres what i did today

i cleaned the hell outta the basement and setup a booth which took me about 5 hours. sanded one of my gfx pieces for about 20 minutes and painted it in about 30 then i cleaned my gun for about 25 minutes and before i knew it the day was over. the primer i used was supposed to be gray but its kinda like white. but oh well its all good. lot better than spray cans thats for sure.

haha since im only 15 living with my parents is awesome. i get to use any of my dads tools whenever i want and i can pretty much do anything i want in my little work area... the only downside to it is that my car is in my aunts garage and i can only go work on it like 3 or 4 times a month which sucks.

Thanks Matt, I really think that this is what im going to be doing for a job when I get older. Really anything with cars I would do. Mechanical or body work... you know w/e. Everyone my age is like dude your way too into that stuff and they tell me im too obsessed with cars. lol. I say to them, so what were you doing while I was working my *** off accomplishing something? Probably sitting at Starbucks or on the computer.
end of rant

Let me add my 2 cents here. If you enjoy it that much as a hobby, dont persue it as a profession. It will suck the joy out of it completely. Im talking from experience. I wouldnt give up what i've learned from being an auto tech, but man.. I hate working on other peoples abused peice of **** cars.

I really dont enjoy body work as much as working on engines and stuff. I still like doing it though. I don't think I will ever paint another one of my cars myself after this one though. There are a lot of fields to choose from in the automotive industry though so I got plenty to choose from I think. Thanks for the advice though Phate.

I set up a painting area in my basement on christmas eve... 10 mins later my parents lectured this 20 year old about paiting in the house. haha. end of that until spring time.

i wouldn't use spray cans if i was you. i went that route the first time around and let me tell you. spraying it the right way is a lot better, especially if you do it right. i can tell the difference already in durability or w/e. spraying isn't much harder than spray cans if you get the gun set up right. spray can primer is ok i guess but IMO spraying is the best way.

haha that sucks. my parents were yelling at me when i went upstairs. i didn't tell them what i was doing. i said i was cleaning which i was so it wasn't a complete lie. I just had to set up a ventilation system. fresh air comes in from the window where i put a furnace filter and some duct tape over to seal it and it wont send any dust in on my fresh primer either. worked out pretty good so far.

sorry about the double post. im not talented enough to quote two people in one post.
