archemedes 08-18-2005 12:10 AM

not sure what the cars worth, it's real rare for one to change hands publicly, but teh last one was around a million dollars (I want to know if it's real)

1BADVETTE 08-18-2005 12:11 AM

DEFINATELY DEFINATELY DEFINATELY NO WHERE CLOSE TO NEAR 1 10TH THE VALUE OF WHAT THEY'RE ASKING FOR IT.

Mike Jones 08-18-2005 12:48 AM

I wish I could go back in time and buy all of them and sell them now.

it's worth every penny and then some, keep in mind that engine is an all aluminum 427 big block, and that was one of the most powerfull camaros ever produced, and was extremely low production

I agree, it's not an RS or anything. This is one of the rarest, most powerful Camaro's ever built. If you want one you WILL pay that, and that's IF you can find one for sale. Because the owners really hang on to them.

MeenZ28 08-18-2005 01:55 AM

He's only saying that cause he doesn't like old style cars.

97z2801ss 08-18-2005 02:37 AM

yea that car is SIIICKK!

paarman97maro 08-18-2005 03:04 AM

wow... thats a shi tload of money for that... wish i was rich

meissen 08-18-2005 08:53 AM

Yeah, that Camaro is worth more than the bid is at now. Only downside is that Jim's using it as an advertising scheme. Every time he's sold high-end rare cars before, it was private auctions with bidding history and all that being private. The fact that it's a public auction, Jim's winning over tons of advertising for the company that's selling it; a car that high price is being talked about on every Camaro enthusiast website right now, and even general car sites too. Notice the location (my hometown, lived there for 12 years, just moved out a year ago), haha makes me feel like Shelby Twp just went up in status that an owner of the ZL1 #40 lives there. :)

69z-28 08-18-2005 09:26 AM

wow. pulling up to a ricer in that would be fun:D prolly think it was a 2 barrel 350 thing, but idk with the way that thing prolly sounds. if i was rich i would have like 3 of those.lol

1BADVETTE 08-18-2005 09:42 AM

even though it's all rare, balh blah blah, etc., it's still a camaro with a 427, and you see people dropping those in camaro's all day long, that's what I mean by it's no where near worth the money. I'm sure to someone it is (who HAS to be the absolute stupidest person in the world.)

69z-28 08-18-2005 10:44 AM

its not an ordinary 427 camaro tho.

Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't automaticly make them "the absolute stupidest person in the world".

97z2801ss 08-18-2005 11:29 AM

yea...Ill agree chad.... I wish i bought them all haha id sell1 or 2 n be good. Adam your crazy.

paarman97maro 08-18-2005 11:59 AM

but would you really pay $775,000 dollars for that car? I like camaros, but personally I would rather spend the money on a ferrari, and Im not even that big of a fan of them... I just would never spend that much money on a car... Unless it was a Lingenfelter Corvette ;)

meissen 08-18-2005 12:40 PM

And here's the major point of the entire conversation: Go buy your Ferrari, go buy your 427 and drop it in the Camaro. See how it sells. For one, most people (especially now adays) don't want gas guzzlers if it's "just another Camaro." A Ferrari, while yes being nice, depreciates. You're buying a Camaro that is an investment, and will never depreciate in value... the longer you keep it, the more rare it is and the more $$$ it's worth. That ZL1 will EASILLY go over a million dollars. The big thing though also is that to the average joe shmo (basically all of us) that's a big price and it's unheard of. These ZL1's and other ultra rare cars are exchanged privately, without the public knowing. You're talking about an ultra-elite group of classic car owners that recognize and understand the value of these cars. You also have to realize too, that with less than 30 of the ZL1's remaining and with how ultra rare they are, the rich people that really want one (Like Jay Leno, but richer) will throw money at these guys to try and get them to sell it, and even then they won't. The ONLY thing you can buy that'd be comparable to this ZL1 is a house, but even then the house isn't going to go up in price like the ZL1 will. Oh, and as for the Ligenfelter Corvette... still has nothing on the ZL1. ;)

Edit: Oh, and one last thing, the ebay auction is just an advertising stunt. Look at all the publicity it's getting, and then they just have to have a buddy be the "highest bidder" and tada, they keep the car, and pay $40 insertion fee from Ebay, and they have all this practically free advertising.

archemedes 08-18-2005 01:24 PM

ebay also charges a percentage of the selling fee my van cost me over $100 to sell and it sold for under $1000.Adam anyone can make a clone of a car, but the clone is worth far less to a smart person, teh stupid one spends the money on the fake, it's just like a painting by Monet is worth more than the same one by Joe.

69z-28 08-18-2005 01:52 PM

who's joe? lol j/k

ain't that the truth...

and its that kind of attitude about things that makes some one "the most stupid person in the world". Just because you have no appreciation for anything older than you, that car is incredibly rare, and original, and does entail a high price for that.

SOMBirdV6 08-18-2005 03:17 PM

WHOA! Im not gona lie I had the money i would buy that in a heart beat.

Sorry, but if they spend $1 million + on a shitty 427 camaro, they are the stupidest person in the world....ever...

so what car would you buy?

1BADVETTE 08-18-2005 05:54 PM

I wouldn't spend $1 million on a car. You could make a much better investment with the money. Put it in the bank, and buy a $30,000 Cobra. Much quicker, much nicer.

archemedes 08-18-2005 06:10 PM

a $30,000 cobra is no where near as fast (keep in mind the mustang is a slap in the face to the name cobra, a real cobra is a shelby not a ford)a real cobra runs around $300,000 and is very fast (almost scary fast)

archemedes 08-18-2005 06:11 PM

the other thing with that is, if you buy a car as an investment you'll lose money most of the time, it's like playing the stock market very few go up constantly

An 03+ Cobra with 1-2k in mods could push 450-500rwhp. That's nice for ~$32k, and it looks good while doing it. Shelby Cobra's are ugly for 300k. Keep in mind this is an opinion thing. Don't let your blood boil Arch.

just like the reference to a 12 bolt is a GM, not a Moser, Strange, etc?

so after mods your close to where that 427 started from the factory, and still in a car that's doesn't have real value (you won't recoup the money you put in it)the shelby cobra is still among the fastest street cars produced

....and you spent $975,000 less. I'd say it's a very good investment. And I highly doubt those cars are 500rwhp from the factory.

they were considered under rated at around 600 hp
"Way back in 1969, Chevrolet released 69, that's right, sixty nine ZL1 equipped Camaros for NHRA racing. Many of these hit the streets instead, creating the legend. Rated at 425 factory horsepower, but realistically pumping out close to 600 horsepower with dyno-tuned headers, the all aluminum big block chevy was difficult to beat."from zlx.com

Some people have that kind of money, they don't need to invest all of their money. You have to be able to enjoy your life.

Yes I love the car but I personally wouldn't buy it, I would build a copy of it so I could drive it. I just don't like spending that money on such a fast car just to let it sit.

Exactly, if I was a billonaire I would definitly own one but other wise I'd just buy a '69 and drop an LS7 in there. Still all aluminum still 427, still an engine made for the Corvette and not the Camaro.

69z-28 08-18-2005 10:51 PM

yes, those camaros are supposed to pull the wheels off the ground from the factory. i heard all you had to do was bolt on some slicks and GO!lol

and x3 on the make your own bastard camaro.lol. would be nice to have that but scary to drive such a fast car that is so rare and expensive.

archemedes 08-18-2005 10:56 PM

P.A.W. sells the big block zl1 block either new or reman I do a '69 I'm doing big block (I am wanting to do an ls7 in the bravada though that ought to be fun until everything breaks)

robluvs2xlr8 08-19-2005 12:07 AM

nice, but for what they are worth i will take the ferrari enzo

id be happier with the 4th gen zl1 :)

RFF 08-19-2005 12:12 AM

Adam seriously why are you getting so bent out of shape over this? The men who trade these cars have more money then your entire family will ever see. 1 million dollars to them would be like 2K to the average person.
