If you don't have the tools or the know how you have to be VERY careful who you go to. Lucky for me my brother has all the tools and a large garage so we can do all the work there. If for some reason we can't I just take it to the shop my uncle owns and he or my other uncle(who works for him) will do the work themselves so I won't have to worry about it.

Yeah even there Im still skeptical. I really dont even think the chevy dealership changed my oil last time. Either that, or my car turns oil black in < 1000 miles.

I would do all my own work, but a tire machine, balancer, and alignment rack get pricey for the amount I would use them

tires and alignment are really the only things are cars go for. But they go to a family friend, so there's no trust issues. He also has a really sweet car and he's building an even nicer one(to me) for his daughter, painted the same color as mine.

Please dont take your car to a dealership... they do the worst work usually... not to mention try to rip you off the worst. They get all the money they can out of non warranty work they can.

if it's a gm dealer they have to do the same rates as the regular shops, and they have access to info independents don't (hence the right to repair act) I have worked at dealers and independents, and the dealers do by far the best training, and quality control
