how to stop boosting..

Is it possible by just disconnecting the vacuum line to the BOV?
This will just cause the pressure to be released right?

But will this also eliminate resistance and hence have the turbo spin too fast and blow up?

Well basically, is there any way to stop boosting safely w/o removing the turbo?

Thanks

correct. and you can damage the turbine due to that happening.

Youll have a leak and i dont think the BOV will work. Shouldnt damage the turbo tho.

i was thinking that without the vacuum line to the bov, it will always stay open? when you boost..

so all of the boost will be leaked out?

Ok are you talking about disconnecting the BOV (blow-off valve) or the waste gate?

Disconnecting the vacuum line from the BOV won't do anything but give you a non-functional BOV.

Disconnecting the vacuum line from the waste gate will give you a blown engine. Since the waste gate is held closed by the spring pressure exerted from a spring inside the waste gate actuator (the can shaped thing the vacuum line attached to), the only way to stop your engine from going into boost would be to detach the waste gate actuator from the waste gate itself, which is a small flapper inside the exhaust housing on the turbo. This would leave the waste gate open permanently, which would enable exhaust gases to exit out the waste gate hole rather then going through the turbine housing and spinning the turbine wheel. The actuator has a rod which is attached to the pivot point on the waste gate with a small c-clip. Take that c-clip off, push the rod off its pivot point, and then enjoy your slow non-boosting turbo.

Ding ding.

Good thing to do when breaking in a newly built engine on a boosted car.

ther is no easy way to do this but remove the turbo kit
might i ask why do you want to do this?

by reding blackout reply i notice you have a new engine your trying to break in
was your car tuned before and did you have a turbo kit on it ?
if so just try too keep out of boost for the first 1200km and you should be fine
personaly i did all my engine breaking (on both my project) on a dyno engine does not leack a drop of oil

personaly i dont understand why people are so scared of driving around
with a new engine in a boosted car i used once the supposed correct method
and that engine was even worst then the 2 engine i did the break in on the dyno

personaly i think it is all bs

you could always unhook the rod to the wastegate fromthe diafram leaving the wastegate always open.. unless you run external... and if thats the case... i guess you could rig up a second wastegate flang with an exhaust valve and just route the exhause around the turbine electrically... that is if your crazy... restricting boost should be a crime

A lil boost is good for sealing piston rings.

Give her a lil boost in 3rd, and then ease off halfway thru the gear, and let the engine do the braking to slow you down. Do that a couple of times and your rings will seal much better/faster then just baby'ing the car around.

the easiest way is remove pipe going to your throttle body and just attach a cone filter

instead of > filter > turbo comp> intercooler > throttle body> intake

you just have filter> throttle body> intake

oh, dont forget about the MAF (if you use one)

this will however turn your turbo into a underhood hair drier so you might want to attach a peice of rad hose to the compressor outlet and point it towards the ground or something.

That makes sense, but man, I'd have a serious problem doing that after I spent all the cash to build the motor. I don't know if I could bring myself to do it.
