It actually broke off inside the ignition?!? How does that work? And Im guessing your going to have to take it somewhere.

my friends car did that so we just jerry-rigged it so you never needed a key to start the car...it was pretty cool

Three options:

1. Find a way to get it out of there, like a high-powered magnet.
2. Replace ignition cylinder. Very expensive through GM, particularly if you have VATS.
3. Get under your dash and install an ignition kill-switch somewhere in the car. (This is the most fun and 'l33t' way of doing it.)

By that, he means if you have the chip in your key. And that ignition cyl price will blow your mind. I'd just install a push to start system lol

Ignition cylinder was $100 CDN through GM. That's not the expensive part, it's the labour, and believe me, you do not want to try it yourself, it is a goddamn nuisance. Guess how I know this. EASY three hours labour for a 4 inch part. Plus the airbag wire is right there, so you need to disable the system to SAFELY work on it. Not to mention those VATS wires are so bloody fragile....

How hard is it to install a push start and how much would one of those cost me?

Not hard. I'm sure Google would bring up a ton of tutorials.

Damn, I wonder how you managed to break off those keys in the ingnition...I would never imagine our keys breaking, unless it was a cheap copy, I know for fact replacement keys sets are like 50$...R-Tarded

If you have vats, you cant lock the driver door, so your screwed. If I try and lock the doors with the key in it it just beeps unlocks itself, i guess to keep you from locking your keys in it.

there might be a way around it... you can change your alarm settings if you look in your manual... Not sure if it will lock either way with the key in the ignition though.
