This was originally posted on one of my other boards from a friend of mine. Just thought you'd like to know.

I do, and GM just sent me a check for $5500.00

I did some research and found an attorney that specializes in automobile lemon law litigation. I contacted them several months ago regarding my knocking LS1. They agreed to take my case with the understanding that I would not have to pay
anything unless they reached a settlement. I just got off the phone with them
and they informed me that they reached an agreement with GM. I get $5500.00 they get $2000, and $500 goes towards misc filing and other fee's. my extended warranty is still intact. so $8000.00 total is not bad.

I am thinking of ordering a new LS6 F-body crate engine for $5130.00, shipping will be $150.00 and I'll eat the rest for installation. This is the web address for a new LS6 crate engine:

The attorney told me anyone with an LS1, LS6 or 5.3 Vortex engine that has the dreaded piston slap is eligible for a settlement apon proof.. I took mine to the dealer and complained about the noise and they were nice enough to document it for me
saying it is "by design suppose to knock when cold" on a genuine GM service order.

This is the lawyers contact info, I highly recommend anyone with an LS1, LS6 or Vortex 5.3 to contact them. The only work you need to do for the money is; Call, email or write these nice people, drive your car to a dealer and let them have it over night so they can verify the engine knocks, fill out a couple forms, walk out to the mail box and mail the paperwork back to them.
