You can put a 305 in a Fiero and still the car would be under powered.

Fiero's are actually heavy cars.

really, they look like feather weights, course the only time i ever saw one up close i was at a pick-your-part. i think id get better milage if my car wasnt so heavy, i read the door stickers and it said gvwt 4200 lbs. Im gonna guess that gvwt means general vehicle weight. (dont remember it exactly). pretty heavy considering the sticker on my dads 01' SS says its 3600 lbs.

as for my 305, you can make fun of it all ya want but i love it, its still a v8 even if its not as powerful, sounds good, feels good(not sluggish at all), it runs great, dosnt leak(my clean driveway is proof) dosnt misfire at all, and can manage a 15.8 on the quarter mile. yes, i realise 15.8 isnt very fast, but i think it is considering my milage, age of the car and the fact that im not an experenced drag racing driver. (although id will to be )

btw: can a shift kit hurt gas milage because the previous owner put one in it.

yes a shift kit can since it will hold the gear longer making the engine rev a bit faster using more gas

Yep, with my Hypertech if I give my car a little extra gas then normal (above the 10%-15% range) it will climb the tach a little longer before it shifts.
