Misfire...
I figured it out. Why Epic's been misfiring since i got her back from haveing the tranny installed. I jacked her up and looked under her with a flashlight. As best I can tell looks like two (maybe more) of the plug wires have burnt a hole threw from sitting aginst the headers. So they will need replaced. Could be worse. I'll probably end up but MSD wire holders and try to get them away from the pipes a bit better this time.
My question for you guys is, I've seen in the high end area of Kragen rolls of exaust wrap. They say it lowers underhood temps DRAMATICALLY. I dont care about the temp but would it be a decent idea to prevent the wires from getting torched again?

You could get the heat wraps that just go around the plug wires.. Cant think of any name brands off hand, but I just saw some at autozone recently I was thinking about getting.. That would probably be cheaper, and your easiest/best bet.

ive been wondering why i have yet to have this problem. it seems the majority of my wires come in contact with the headers at some point. i would just wrap the wires like paar said. or you can put wire looms over them so those melt first?

yeah that stuff is great. different application but same purpose: some people use them on their 4 stroke mx bikes so their headers dont burn holes in their boots or in their bodies in a crash....stuff works great! just looks retarted IMO

No, no sarcasim. What i ment was that the wire boots wouldnt look like dick like the wrap would. I actually liked that idea.
But does anyone know where I'd go about finding those OTVC kits? I've looked, can't track them down.

Thank you. I looked at Ebay, Jegs, Summit couldnt find it for the life of me but i knew there was someone who did. It's a bit pricy aint it? I mean once you throw in the wires and the crimping tool it's like $120.00.... Unfortunatly I dont think I'm going that route then.

well grant that wrap wont work. i had that problem on my 95 Z28. only solution to burning wires with headers is OVC. dont get the thunder racing kit. save yourself some time and get the premade wires from elitesparkplugs.com. then just get the holders from summit. it will save you an assload of time. just ask matt.

if you do the thunder racing way you gotta cut the wires to length, then crimp the opti ends on. it just takes too much damn time.
so here are the links to what you need.

Sweet flaming Jesus, do NOT use that exhaust/header heat wrap crap. That stuff is worthless, and will catch fire if even a drop of oil touches it.
Get your headers ceramic coated. Looks great, and works awesome. I had the ceramic coated Pacesetters and they looked far superior to a 'dick in a box'.
As far as your wires, you really shouldn't need to use heat-protective wire boots. Just run your wires a little bit tighter so they aren't touching the headers at all. Strategic black zip ties, if you must.
