Oh wow.

So, our service truck broke down this morning, so I had to take my car to pick up a part. Flow Jeep is only like 10 minutes away, so im driving there, and come to a stoplight, next thing I hear is the whine of a supercharger behind me, and its a supercharged cobra pulled up next to me at the light, I cant see the driver at this point. Im not dumb and not about to race on wet roads (its been raining and freezing and the roads are horrid right now), not to mention I wouldnt have a chance. Anyway, I give no indication I want to race at all, next thing I know the light changes and I hear him squeeling, and instantly know this is not going to end well. I dont even move my car so as to make sure he doesnt hit me, and he gets about 4 lengths in front of me before losing control and fishtailing it, hops the curb and smacks it into a lightpole sideways.

So I drive over and get out and make sure hes ok.... hes 16 years old and has taken his Dad's stang without permission and is freaking out, asking me not to call the cops and all this ****. It doesnt really matter because the person in the opposite lane already had, a cop shows up and trys to say we were street racing. I got out of it because the person who called it in was still there and told him what happened.

Needless to say I feel sorry for the dumbass kid...

PS - Yea, the car was totalled, and we popped the hood afterwards, it its procharged, cammed, just built to hell... bet his Dad is going to be happy.

FamousZ 01-23-2007 11:36 AM

damn..

Adric 01-23-2007 12:59 PM

wow I would throw that kid in a river

MyFirstCamaro 01-23-2007 02:34 PM

i would slaughter the kid and be so pissed if you got brought up on a street racing charge

69z-28 01-23-2007 03:04 PM

that really sucks. your a nice guy for pulling over though. i woulda laughed if it was some big built guy in his 30's or some ****. lol. but it figures it was a kid. wtf goes through some of their heads.lol. i made a stupid move like that once and paid. he'll prolly have a new outlook on cars like that and weather. good thing you didnt attempt anything yourself and the other guy hung around to help you out.

paarman97maro 01-23-2007 03:04 PM

yeah I like how they jump to the street racing conclusions... Good thing you didnt get marked with that.

What a dumbass kid... His dad is probably going to beat his *** with a crowbar.. Id be pissed as ****.

97z2801ss 01-23-2007 04:43 PM

wow man thats crazy...
glad you didnt get hit.
bet you would have if that other person didnt stay.

damn cluckers

blue89vert 01-23-2007 06:21 PM

damn that sucks for him. ive done illegal driving w/o permission but damn....i would never street race anyone in conditions like that. what a dumbass. glad your ok though

98CamaroZ28 01-23-2007 07:48 PM

new drivers...Yea thats why you dont give a 300+ hp to a kid at such a young age( I started out with a Ford Ranger) unless they can repect it and be responcible with it. I got a ticket, but got out of it. But I have never ever street raced(well except that one time with the riced v6 white stang which didnt really count because i just pulled away from him and went to my exit lol) nor made dumb *** choices to pull that dumb shijt in that kind of weather! ID BE PISSED AS **** if that was my car. So phate did they try to arrest you or what...I know you get out of it but did the cops try some BS shizzle on you?

niceroc 01-23-2007 07:53 PM

yea, i do some stupid ****, but i make sure i do it in the right areas, whetre if i screw up its not big deal ro i just dont ut myself in a position to screw up that bad, i really dont think any 16 y/o kid needs anything more then a stock lt1, and that is pushing it, because i know some of my freinds couldnt handle it, and this is comming from a 18 y/o

69z-28 01-23-2007 09:25 PM

i couldnt handle a stock LT1.lol. the only reason i keep my car as loud as it is an obnoxious, is because i know people will watch me more carfully and ill be FORCED to behave with it most of the time. ive grown some more balls since i started driving however ive also learned a lot and always think about what im gonna do before i do it. fine line between gutsy and smart and gutsy and stupid.

Naw, the cops around here are assholes, but without a witness he had no way of charging me with street racing. Even if he did, i'd get out of it.

I really do feel sorry for the kid, because his Dad has to be ripping him a new one tonight. The car is totalled, no way around that. Airbags deployed (not sure why on a side impact) and it wrapped it around the pole a little bit. Only thing salvagable is maybe dropping the motor out into another car.

paarman97maro 01-23-2007 11:35 PM

gaaaddd.. I just thought about it again... Id ****** kill my kid if he took out my built car... man that kid isnt probably gonna drive til hes like 21... and his dad will maybe give him a geo.

deff. alot more then 3oo HP with what he said it had

ITSA6 01-24-2007 12:04 AM

yeah i have done dumb stuff but never around anyone or anything. and i always try it and perfect it before i go out on real streets and try it. anywho yeah i would be pissed and would definitly give him a bus pass not even a geo

Phate 01-24-2007 11:03 AM

Now im nervous. I just got a call from the cop asking to come in and talk to him about the incident. Which is typically ********, he got everything he needed to know at the scene, a traffic accident is usually never taken away from the scene...

Should I go ahead and call my lawyer and talk to him about the situation?

paarman97maro 01-24-2007 12:39 PM

Thats weird that they asked you to come in... Sometimes they will call you to get more info.... Not to make you nervous, but Im wondering if the kid told his dad a different story.. "oh yeah this camaro was trying to race me" or somthing... and now his dad is questioning.

Just tell him the truth.. you have that witness, and you didnt move at the stoplight. I wouldnt worry about it.

Mike Jones 01-24-2007 12:56 PM

That is so stupid. If you wouldn't have helped him out you would have been fine but now you have to go through all this just because you stopped to help out.

FORCE_FED_Z 01-24-2007 01:06 PM

Actually if the other witness didn't stop and Phate took off too, the kid could have tried to trump up a racing story. Either way though its not able to be proven that you were trying to race. The ticket would more than likely be tossed even if he tried to write you up on it. The kid have to be a moron to try and say that you were racing- here in NY that would constitute a RECKLESS DRIVING charge which is a misdemeanor, a little more than just a simple traffic ticket.

I wouldn't worry about a lawyer at this point. It doesn't sound like there was anything criminal so you should be fine. Ask him what he wants, and why it can't be done over the phone. Either that or have him stop by your house- no reason he can't do that unless its out of his jurisdiction. Its probably something as simple as having you sign a deposition saying that the kid appeared to be trying to race you. I am willing to bet it has nothing to do with you-

Phate 01-24-2007 02:43 PM

Well im going down to the station at 4:30 today. We'll see whats going down.

69z-28 01-24-2007 03:22 PM

good luck. let us know.... if all else fails, show him this thread. just not where u called the cops assholes.haha.

you should be fine.

Phate 01-24-2007 05:26 PM

Well, it appears I came in for two reasons. The cop had me sign a waiver agreement about pressing charges? No clue what i'd press charges for. And the father wanted to talk to me.

He asked me about what happened, I guess he was somewhat in disbelief that I didnt race him or something. But the guy was nice, thanked me for stopping to help his son, and shook my hand and that was that.

Waste of time, but a load off of my mind for sure.

MyFirstCamaro 01-24-2007 05:27 PM

force fed....you live in NY?

good to know everything went good !

TorqueDog 01-24-2007 06:39 PM

I would kill my son... then have another son, and tell him what an idiot the last one was.

Mike Jones 01-24-2007 06:46 PM

I'm glad everything worked out for you. I'm thinking you should become good friends with the kid's dad and take his cars out.

paarman97maro 01-24-2007 06:48 PM

Ha.. I knew it had to be somthing with the father.. At least all went well.

FORCE_FED_Z 01-24-2007 06:56 PM

Yeah- look in the location bar that everyone has- mine has WNY- which to break down means Western New York for those who can't figure it out.

I don't know what charges you could have even pressed- he wasn't exactly harrassing you- but who knows what they were thinking. I pretty much knew it wasn't going to be anything major.

97z2801ss 01-24-2007 07:00 PM

glad it was nothing major man!
did you show up in the maro?

Adric 01-24-2007 07:17 PM

I didnt think about getting any. Im sure the car got towed to the guys house. Here is a mental picture for you.

He hit the curb and broke the right rear hub, its bent outward. Where it impacted the pole, right along the seem of the door to front fender, the frame bending slightly around the pole.

PS - The stang was forest green.

paarman97maro 01-24-2007 11:45 PM

I dont care about body.. I want to see the engine :D

I wish it worked that way for women... er.

TorqueDog 01-25-2007 12:05 PM

Once he got out of the car after massaging the side of the car with a pole, you should have said "F**K DUDE, that was crazy! Sheeeeeit, does that thing have a Hemi in it?? No? Well, even if it did, I guess that doesn't matter any more, does it."
