Now im nervous. I just got a call from the cop asking to come in and talk to him about the incident. Which is typically ********, he got everything he needed to know at the scene, a traffic accident is usually never taken away from the scene...
Should I go ahead and call my lawyer and talk to him about the situation?

Thats weird that they asked you to come in... Sometimes they will call you to get more info.... Not to make you nervous, but Im wondering if the kid told his dad a different story.. "oh yeah this camaro was trying to race me" or somthing... and now his dad is questioning.
Just tell him the truth.. you have that witness, and you didnt move at the stoplight. I wouldnt worry about it.

Actually if the other witness didn't stop and Phate took off too, the kid could have tried to trump up a racing story. Either way though its not able to be proven that you were trying to race. The ticket would more than likely be tossed even if he tried to write you up on it. The kid have to be a moron to try and say that you were racing- here in NY that would constitute a RECKLESS DRIVING charge which is a misdemeanor, a little more than just a simple traffic ticket.
I wouldn't worry about a lawyer at this point. It doesn't sound like there was anything criminal so you should be fine. Ask him what he wants, and why it can't be done over the phone. Either that or have him stop by your house- no reason he can't do that unless its out of his jurisdiction. Its probably something as simple as having you sign a deposition saying that the kid appeared to be trying to race you. I am willing to bet it has nothing to do with you-

Well, it appears I came in for two reasons. The cop had me sign a waiver agreement about pressing charges? No clue what i'd press charges for. And the father wanted to talk to me.
He asked me about what happened, I guess he was somewhat in disbelief that I didnt race him or something. But the guy was nice, thanked me for stopping to help his son, and shook my hand and that was that.
Waste of time, but a load off of my mind for sure.

Yeah- look in the location bar that everyone has- mine has WNY- which to break down means Western New York for those who can't figure it out.
I don't know what charges you could have even pressed- he wasn't exactly harrassing you- but who knows what they were thinking. I pretty much knew it wasn't going to be anything major.
