LS1 gas mileage is not bad, its just that you have to put premium in it.

i had about 3/4 tank of gas when i went to the track, did 5 passes then drove home and screwed around on back roads for a long time, and i still had like 1/2 tank. with the 2 O.D.'s the M6's really arent too bad.

you guys really don't know what good milage is, for an example my bravada gets the same as your lt1's do about 15 mpg, the gp gets about 20 mpg both are considered gas guzzlers by teh epato be decent milage you need over 25 mpg good is over 30

ok let me rephrase that, for being a high performance car w/ a v8, camaros get good mileage. theres a tradeoff between good mileage and power and most cars don't have both. i should have elaborated on my def of good mileage in my first post

but for the average college student power doesn't matter when you have 10 bucks to eat, and buy gas you need it to go farther

yea plus pretty much everyone with v8's run premuim gas. Its close to 2.25 here now for 94 octane, thats cheap too it was up to 2.75 at the end of last summer.

funny thing is the lt1 doesn't need premium usually (the ls1's not supposed to need it, but from my reading gm screwed up and it pings if not running premium)

then that would mean it does need premium. either way its worth it to keep the V8 runnin strong. i wouldnt want regular with a V8.

octane does not give more hp, octane is the gas's ability to resist preignition, in other words higher octane doesn't burn as easy

duh arch. i know that, but a knocking engine cant be considered as running smooth...so thats why i said engines on premium run smoother.

Everyone kept telling me to stick with my old Camaro and wait till I finished school, blah blah blah. F*ck that, you could die tomorrow for all you know. Enjoy life while you can.....

It may be an extra burden, but I think mine is worth it.
