this past weekend....

sucked...

my dad and i were supposed to go to this car cruise/show up in Rhinelander, Wi this weekend and stay at his friends house, its like an annual thing. so were driving the T/A up the highway and about hour and a half from my house (just north of Racine for all the Wi people) also(its about a 5 hour trip) the clutch pedal is vibrating like crazy in 6th gear at about 80 mph. so i go to downshift and the clutch is hard as hell, i put it to the floor and pull it outa gear and the car just dies, so i ease off the road onto the median since i was in the left lane, i couldnt make it to the right hand side which sucked. so we sit there for 15 minutes, try to start the car, but the starter cant turn the engine, it tried to, but the engine just seemed seized up and locked somehow, so we get towed to a crash investigation site for free by the Wisconsin Gateway Patrol program to keep people off the highways, then call a local tow company from our town, pay out the *** for a flat bed, blah blah blah. 4 hours after breaking down, i get the thing apart and figure out what was wrong after removing the trans and everything. heres pics....

Sorry to hear about the problems but seriously Matt. If you're even in the area and have problems give me a call. If I'm home I have no problem coming out to either help out or at least let you hang out at my place or lend some tools, etc...

arch, the t/o bearing actually stays on the clutch plate with a ring clip type deal, it looks messed up but its LT1 junk.

Chad thanks for that offer, i really appreciate it, however after getting into it, it was obvious the car needed to be towed home and there was no way we could have hacked it back together or even begun to fix it on the side of the road.hehe.

anyways, the bolt that hold the clutch fork to the trans(also what the fork pivots on when the slave cylinder pushes it) it came loose, therefore backing its way out of the face of the trans and allowing the fork to move its way towards the pressure plate and eventually seizing up. theres also 2 small clips that protrude from the center of the fork, to snap onto the end of the bolt and they got snapped off by the clutch cover, i found them in the bottom of the trans face area, this is why i need a new 90 dollar clutch fork(cause 2 tiny **** clips broke)lol. im pretty sure thats all it needs and i hope thats all, i plan to just clean the chunks of metal out of the area and put some locktite on the bolt when it goes back in. apparently this has happened to other LT1 fans. im also leaving for school thursday, the car has been sitting since friday night so im hoping like the dealership said, the fork will be in tomorrow morning and the car should be running by tomorrow.
