Racing a Z06

A z06 challenged me on Sunday, July, 3, I told him I would race him on friday. The timers were out of order this week but I was told he was hitting high 13's. I think I can take him. What do you all think? Hes completley stock with a 6spd.

archemedes 07-04-2005 04:29 PM

he'll probably take you if he can drive, if he's not a good driver no problem

McGruff 07-04-2005 05:11 PM

the Z06 will burn you.

JimmyFrance 07-04-2005 05:33 PM

Videotape it. Or tell me where its at and i'll come watch.

I thought low 12's, but a bad driver can make a car real slow especially with a stick

69z-28 07-04-2005 08:14 PM

you should at least be able to keep up with him. if anything else it should be fun.

SLPowerZ 07-05-2005 12:09 AM

ya man, high 13s is embarassing fpr a z06, hopefully he can't drive, then it will be a good race

1BADVETTE 07-05-2005 02:05 AM

z06's are VERY fast with even a decent driver. I prolly wouldn't mess with one, considering I got my *** handed to me by one by probably 4 lengths from a 40 roll-on with a fairly decent driver. They're fast.

froma 40 mph roll says nothing, there are guys in civics keeping up with ls1's froma roll (that's why I saw from a roll isn't racing it's faking it to look cool while losing)

McGruff 07-05-2005 02:13 AM

If you are banking on him being a shitty driver, you lost already...

JimmyFrance 07-05-2005 02:14 AM

Yeah i think racing from a roll is really ricey. Most the cars ive raced and beat from a dig the first thing they say was "lets go from like a 40 roll!" ...idiots.

NoRiceInside 07-05-2005 03:20 AM

adam stop being so cocky. you dont have full bolt ons. you obviously dont know **** about engines.

1BADVETTE 07-05-2005 03:24 AM

I don't have full bolt-ons? Intake, exhaust, free mods? where was I cocky Caleb? I said i got my *** handed to me and that's being cocky?

NoRiceInside 07-05-2005 03:31 AM

no i mean by saying you have full bolt ons...you dont have full bolt ons. fuel, ignition, heads...theres a lot more to it than intake and exhaust...

McGruff 07-05-2005 03:34 AM

**** that, I do have full bolt ons and I still say a Z06 will smoke a SS.

NoRiceInside 07-05-2005 03:48 AM

i do too...

fuel and ignition mods aren't needed till you have a built car, and heads aren't exactly your basic bolt-on, considering they need to be tuned and whatnot. the term full bolt-ons is understood to be a built intake (ftra,lid,filter,ls6 intake, etc.) or some variants of those, exhaust (full exhaust system), and whatever else little mods there are (free mods, etc.) So yes, to a normal NON EXTREMELY literal(sp) person, yes, my car is a full bolt-on car.

69z-28 07-05-2005 10:32 AM

i dont have full bolt on...:(lol i dont need that **** tho. im goin diving into my engine so bolt ons can eat me.

just remember, cams need to breath and whatnot!

69z-28 07-05-2005 11:42 AM

im doing an exhaust basically like what you have adam. im doing prolly Pacesetter long tubes, deleting EGR and AIR crap, and then 3" with bullets and turndowns or some other muffler with turndowns and cutouts.plus i got my K&N!!! lol.

that bird is kinda right but kinda wrong.lol. nitrous wont be here for a while. but it WILL be here.lol

bolt on's are just that parts that bolt on, heads are a basic bolt on, cai is barely a bolt on, as is exhaust. Full bolt ons is you did everything except pull the lower half of the engine (it includes cam)

I'm basing it on teh guy running 13's in it he has to suck at driving or it's not a z06

Heads definitly aren't bolt ons.

they have always been considered a bolt on, but I guess in the tuner market (yes even camaros fall into that) the old hot rod technics are gone

bLkWdOw SS 07-05-2005 01:27 PM

those who fear defeat are sure to lose. j/k, He was running at the track and his car didnt look to strong. He raced an ST4 and only won by a car lenght. Hes a young guy. I think I can take him if I dont **** up. I saw a WS6 slightly modded running all over him. Ill record it, I just got a new cam corder.

That and remember as I stated about Elivation over here is crap, not sure what it is but it sucks. I say hes running mid 13's good elivation.

1BADVETTE 07-05-2005 01:40 PM

he sucks at driving. Try and race him and see. if he's running mid 13's at good elevation, you should be running high 12's/low 13's.

NoRiceInside 07-05-2005 02:56 PM

dude my senior project...head and valvetrain swap...was considered a bolt on project.

archemedes 07-05-2005 03:16 PM

like I said bolt ons are anything that doesn't involve the pistons or crank

1BADVETTE 07-05-2005 03:19 PM

you don't just "bolt on" a camshaft, you don't just "bolt on" heads, my car is a full bolt-on car, and that's that, if your version of bolt-on is different than mine, that's wonderful, but from what everyone else seems to claim as "bolt-on", I have a full bolt-on car.

archemedes 07-05-2005 03:52 PM

yes you do just bolt them on, you have a full ricer bolt on car (claiming to have full bolt ons and havevery little done is a ricer thing) my version of bolt on is the same version the magazines and parts manufacturers use

97z2801ss 07-05-2005 03:53 PM

I wish Tom was here, your cars not full bolt ons...heads are included, Maf? sure is. Intake, IM. arch is right bottom end isnt bolt on buit the top half and other things are..

1BADVETTE 07-05-2005 04:03 PM

would you whiny ******* shut the **** up if I changed it to intake, exhaust, and free mods? I've never seen so many people who are appearence-oriented explode over performance modifications.

97z2801ss 07-05-2005 04:13 PM

appearence oriented hmmm haha

I'm appearance oriented? I've built more engines and raced more than you ever will it's just your sounding like a ricer and I'm trying to let you know the error of your ways. I know I don't have a camaro, but when I get one it will be one of the most powerful here (I am building a big block for it)

JimmyFrance 07-05-2005 04:15 PM
