RIP My Vette - 56K get the **** out

Was on my way to the gun range, hit a patch of water on I-75 and hydroplaned across three lanes of traffic and into the bushes. The tree came out with me when the wrecker came...

I'll let the pictures speak the rest.

PS. Minor frame damage, its not twisted, just dented a little so I don't know if State Farm will total it.

robluvs2xlr8 08-28-2005 02:52 PM

That sucks man, glad to see that you are alright :)

CTS-V is pretty impressive for the money, I looked at those for quite a while.

MeenZ28 08-28-2005 03:00 PM

God, Im so sorry to see that Josh. Glad you're ok. If the insurance doesn't total it... you think you'll still sell the beotch?

SOMBirdV6 08-28-2005 03:44 PM

Wow, that sucks the big one man im really sorry to see that atleast your ok though!

CTS-V would be nice one stomped a Z06 last night here.

paarman97maro 08-28-2005 04:05 PM

:verysad: why... why the vette?

Im sorry about everything... glad to see youre ok

Sinister95Z 08-28-2005 04:29 PM

Sorry about your loss. Just out of curiosity...what are you driving in the down time??

RFF 08-28-2005 04:30 PM

Car covered in grass and mud, yep reminds me of my car when I wrecked it. Sucks to see man but at least you can upgrade now.

bLkWdOw SS 08-28-2005 04:31 PM

that thing is totaled for sure. Its going to be hard for them not to. If they even see the slightest undercarrage damage they will. I would start looking into that CTS-V if I were you. Glad to see your doing good. Sorry about your vette.

The more I look at it the less I think they'll total it. There is no mechanical damage with the exception of the freon that leaked out. Body panels are pretty cheap, so are tires and paint. I'm guessing around 10-15K, which isn't close to being 80%. I looked at the frame again and I'm pretty sure it can be straightened.

We'll find out tomorrow.

I have an 02 Silverado and my work car...

The motor is intact and if they total it, I'll be keeping it... there is nothing else you would want off of it.

I was doing about 80.

No offense to your car, but its a V6 Camaro and mine is a Vette. They work of of either 80% of the total cost of the car or frame damage. If that repair cost you $3000 and the total cost of the car was $3600 then yeah it would be...

My car is still worth a ******** of money and fiberglass isn't that expensive

97' Z28 show project 08-28-2005 06:49 PM

that sucks dude sorry bout the car but at least you could keep the engine

archemedes 08-28-2005 06:52 PM

I think it will be totaled, you have damage on almost every panel, the quarters have to be bonded then smoothed, we had one that was damaged in shipping and the dealerships insurance totaled it.For some reason vette parts are overpriced

McGruff 08-28-2005 06:55 PM

it cant be bonded, it needs new panels all the way around...

archemedes 08-28-2005 07:03 PM

they are bonded at teh factory, (at least on the earlier ones) the rear quarters, and deck are 3 pieces

McGruff 08-28-2005 07:06 PM

Yeah, there is the back bumper which is one piece, and the two rear fenders, all of which can come off... the only thing thats bonded on C5's is the piece right behind the roof panel. Thats steel too if I'm not mistaken...

archemedes 08-28-2005 07:17 PM

ok I haven't had the oportunity to pull one of those apart. Is the rocker missing on the passenger side?

McGruff 08-28-2005 07:21 PM

by rocker you mean....

the only **** thats missing is the fiberglass... other than that the piece of plastic that guards the computer came off when we pulled the tree out and the PC is just flopping there...

archemedes 08-28-2005 07:37 PM

It looks like the piece under the door is missing

McGruff 08-28-2005 08:03 PM

Its just another piece of fiberglass... I think Camaros have the same thing, just a little bit bigger

loser 08-28-2005 08:25 PM

well, keep us updated. IMO it looks totalled but if its not thats good.

97z2801ss 08-28-2005 08:29 PM

Josh as much as we've had our differences, I'm really glad to hear you're ok, that looked like one hell of a slide and wreck, ****.

Alleycatt 08-28-2005 09:16 PM

Sorry to hear about your car Josh. I'm glad that you weren't hurt. You got pretty lucky that you didn't get hurt.

bLkWdOw SS 08-28-2005 09:36 PM

Well I personaly think it is totaled for sure. But then again I guess every Insurance is diffrent. Good luck for 2maro.

1BADVETTE 08-28-2005 09:39 PM

That definately sucks about your vette. Glad your okay. What else are you looking at other than a CTS-V?

Mike Jones 08-28-2005 09:48 PM

Sorry Josh, if it was me I'd want it to be totaled. I don't like having cars that have been in accidents before.

NCamaro94 08-28-2005 09:51 PM

is a newer vette a possibility?
