ah yeah, silicone sealant/adhesive works really well to insulate the exposed leads of the LED, just make sure they work right before putting it on liek I did. I was wiring that face plate and used the silicone adhesive and now I might have to buy a new faceplate for my cd player...

I got a new plate heres some pics but I am going to run into the same problem with this one it is off of a 91 RS and I got a shifter handle I belive it is the same one that came on IROC's they are both in really good condition not rusted like my last one!

Ok the pic below show the plate. The bottom of it, the hump were the original light goes in and it causes a problem cause I cant drill stright down and put it aim the led on the letter so I am thinking of drilling holes where the red dots are (except the P,1 Gear cause you can drill stright down on the letter for them) at a 45 degree angle so it will point at the letters does it look like it will work?? I dont want to mess up another shift panel!! Please if you see a better way TELL ME.

well, before you drill anything, try taking like a bunch of LEDs and putting them in that hole (MAKE SURE YOU TAPE THE LEADS SO THEY DONT SHORT!) and see how bright they make it?

I mean... that bulb is supposed to light up all the letters, if you shove like 5 of those LED's into that hole and try covering the hole so the only place the light can go is straight to the panel, what does it look like?

I wish I could do that in blue just for the shift indicator lights, but mine haven't worked since I bought the car and I don't know if I need new wiring or what.

2Poor4Z is an unknown quantity at this point
why are you even doing this mod this way? to me it looks like that hole is made for a #194 bulbs socket.. if thats the case you could of just ordered a 194 led bulb from anywhere off the internet or even some local shops and just replaced the factory bulb with it
