Sold my car!!!

mods do not add a dime invalue especially the ones on tha (msd lowers value usually) think like a mechanic who adds that stuff but a person who will rag on the car, that is why a restored car will always sell for less than the cost of restoration

been a little interested in this car...
1985 Trans Am 350 TPI T-tops GTA conv.
2nd owner
T-tops with new weatherstripping.
GTA conversion with 16" rims
Performance Handling Package.
All power options.
Black Exterior (8 out of 10) and Interior (8 out of 10)
In very nice driver condition, not show quality.
153,000 total miles
35,000 on fresh 350 and 700r4 trans rebuild with shift kit.
runs strong!
recent paint job, no rust, paints shines very nice.
rear shocks replaced
A/C equipped, but not operational
needs a fuel pump, but runs fine as is, will probably install one once the weather gets better.
Just had a tune up (injectors cleaned, air filter, cap and rotor, plug and wires, and fuel filter)
Also a recent oil change, tire rotation and balance.
Asking $3000 obo, I need to sell this car by May,
from what the guy told me through e-mail its pretty nice but im gonna wait for some pictures. hopefully ill have pics tomorrow. i might look at it in a week or so, since its kinda close to me, but idk yet. im trying not to get keyed up about ne thing.

just IMO i would never go by kelly blue book. that thing is the most screwed up thing ever. it doesnt look at what cars are actually going for in the area and time. they said my uncles 89' vette was worth 9 grand and it had 10k miles on it. there were cars selling with 50k miles for like 13. he ended up getting like 16 grand for it. so yea idk KBB is pretty lame. im gonna wait for some pictures.

it's not an original engine so what did it come from was it done by someone knowledgeable? edmunds says trade in $103 dealer $930 if the engine change was done properly with a new engine (or a pro rebuilt) add about $500

probably not online online dealers jack the price up to ebay levels (which have a bunch of morons buying cars few go for value most are double it) check teh local paper, if you can find an auto auction there should be a few early '90s ones going through for under a grand (I bought my '91 convertable for $500 needing a quarter, by the way I lost a ton on the car I sold it after a year at auction for $600 too bad I had a grand in it)

I think that black one sounds pretty nice, but, like you, I'd wait to see pics. Too bad its not a real GTA. There's one around here, and its nice. Yeah kbb is good for getting a general price, but it doesn't really think of collector value and little things like that.
#26
the big theing a third gen has no collector value (second gens are just starting to get it and only the early cars)vettes are screwy, many experts will value a car and it will sell for double that at an auction and may only get half at another (just to show an example for teh vette mentioned) also when the engine has been changed you have to go by body mileage

but some people will buy a car for a mint and think it's worth that when in reality its worth a buck sure if your willing to spend 3 grand on a rat trap (not saying it is but most of the third gens I've seen with what is described are) that's great but value is supply and demand and there is very little demand right now
