The story of your first camaro

I figured it would be interesting to share and read first camaro stories. So here goes mine:
Ive always been a camaro lover. It literally dates back to when i was in the 2nd or 3rd grade. I remember seeing the new at the time 4th gen on a freeway in seattle. I pointed it out to my dad and i remember him telling me it was a junk car haha. In the library in school instead of getting books like the other kids, id read the car and driver or whatever car related mag was on the shelves.
Anyways as i grew older towards the legal age to drive i really started taking interest in the thought of having a camaro. Id lay there with my headphones at night in bed imagining i had one. All the power, attention and of course the hotties! Yes this is true lol. 16 came, and i had no license. My mother wouldnt take the time to teach me to drive. This continued til i was 19 when i got my first REAL job which was out of town. I lied to them and told them i had a license. (I wasnt driving the company vehicles on public roads or anything) just around the work area.
After getting used to this after a month i figured what the hell. So i went to the DMV and took the drivers test, and passed the first time. (maybe i should have tried this earlier!) lol. So a couple months go by and im planning to join the army. I had this goal to get a 2002 T/A WS.6 after i got to my first duty station so i was saving everything i could because i was expecting to pay around $20,000.
I picked the news paper up one day on my break cause that was my thing i always looked in the classifieds for the Camaros or Firebirds. I saw a 1994 Camaro Convertible with 24k mi in the paper for $9500. So im thinking. Is it a Z? Thats kind of a Z price tag but usually ppl will specify if it is in their ads... So i called the number and left a message. A day later an older guy in his 60's calls up to work for me right when i got there, and we talked for about 30 min. He told me how it was his wifes car and she just drove it to and from work during the summer for the last 10 years. They where selling it because they where moving to AZ to retire. I told them that i was about a 45 min plane ride away for my work but i lived in town and i usually came back once every 2 weeks and i wanted to see it. So a week or so passed, i flew in, called the guy and saw her. What a beautiful car beautiful car. As i rolled up the sun was setting on the paint it looked really nice. We took it for a test drive and i loved it. I had no credit history but i had $6k in the bank. So i offered to do a contract or something with him. But he didnt wanna sell it THAT bad. He told me if he could not sell it soon, he would just take it to AZ with them. I had to have the car though. I told him to give me a month and a half and id pay him $10k cash i even gave him a date. So a month and a half later i get back into town with the cash in hand and call the owner only to hear he had JUST sold the car to another guy. I was one day late and didnt call him so i lost it. I was pissed at myself and sad at the same time. I was so close. 4 hrs later my phone rings, and its the guy with the camaro and he tells me the other buyer couldn't come up with the money. So i got a ride, ran down there as soon as i could, and payed for her $10k cash. I was soo excited i didnt even care to inspect her so i never realized that the wiper blades where 11 years old, the tires never been changed either, the brake pads where going, etc. She needed a tuneup bad. But now shes mine. 2 years and 9k mi later not a problem in the world! Its my 1st camaro and its the one ill always have.

Anyone else?

I Like camaros but I like The brids more, thats why I havnt owned a camaro.

I first fell in love with the Firebirds and Trans am back in 98 when the commercial came out where its at the stop light "its so powerful its allmost scary." Since then I have been in love with them. My dad didnt want me getting a v8 at the time so My first was a red 98 3.8L firebird, bone stock when I got it. The mod bug bit me on the *** and I started modifying it little by little. But I was craving more power so I bought a 80` trans am smokey in the bandit eddition, it needed some engine work but it was in mint condition exterior wise. But sadly I needed money and had to sell it, Got rid of it on ebay. I wish I would have kept it though. So later on I was looking for a v8 98-02 firebird when I came accross my 99 formula at a car dealership. I took it for a test drive and knew right there and then that my 3.8 was pathetic and I needed this car so I traded the red 98 it on it. And have had it ever since. I also picked up my 79 formula a few months later cheap off one of my dads friends for a project car. Havnt gotting around to doing much of anything to it yet.
My future plans are to restore the 79 and sell my 99 for a 02 slp firehawk. I am right now in the process of selling my integra to just have my 99 grand prix gtp supercharged as my daily driver to mod out a bit and just have fun with.

Since it's already been hijacked to include birds....

My mom has worked for a Pontiac dealership for over 25 years. When I was little the dealership was pretty much where I spent all my summers. Washing cars, picking up the lot, cutting grass. So I grew up around Pontiacs and loved Trans Ams. My current TA, is my first TA. It was on the showroom floor back in 85 and I used to clean it everyday. I freaking loved the car and wanted my folks to buy it for me for my 16th b-day (I was 12 then lol) Well needless to say it finally got sold. Then in 94 I had just sold the car I was driving, oddly enough I guy I worked with offered me money for it out of the blue which was more then I had paid for the car, so I was in the market for a car. I called my mom to tell her to keep an eye out for anything traded in that was decent. The next day she called me and told me to come down and check out a car she thought I would like that was just traded in on a 25th anniversary TA. Turns out it was the same TA. So I bought it on the spot for $1400. Had the money sucker ever since. lol

Sorry to break the Bird cycles

As much as i love the birds the camaros are where its at. Not gonig overboard in style but has the look of performance.I remember when i was 10 i got a 95' z28 1:24 diecast for christmas and i have loved them since and when i met my best friend eric he was my true motivation to get a camaro since hes a die hard mustang and ford fan so we have our little competitions but we both know all know chevy > ford. That and my dad started taking me to car shows . . . international show and older muscle car shows that have been going on everyday of the week all over my area. He started with a 66' gto sold that got a 68' went to vietnam his uncle sold it got back bought a 69' vette, sent my mom in that to go break up with her boyfriend. then he sold that and got a 72 nova and my mom bought a firebird 4oo unknown year. Sold that got a bronco then an 82 mustang then my sis was born and he stopped prefromance and know he has his 76 vette and my camaro at home while im at schoo

With my car once i turned 16 i was searching for my car everyday in the classifieds when i finally saw a 98' "grey" camaro for sale 7k$. So me and my dad decided to go visit this guy since hes about 20 minutes away. We went down there met the guy and he openend the garage. There it was a decommisioned 98 silver camaro. mirrors and rugged garage. Later we figured that the rug was because it was covering the rear seal leak that i have but has seemed to stop. So we test drove and about 5 seconds into we found out how low they are we scrapped the guard right on the little hump leaving his building. We took it out, thats when i realized it must have the exhast done so when we pulled back into his building complex looked back there and there it was a nice cat back flowmaster exhaust. We ended up going up talking to the guy for a few hours he was ex-state trooper detective for NJ, single has 3 houses and is a private pilot who owns his own jet. He needed to get rid ofthis car to make room for his brand new red zo6 that was being delivered to his house and going rigt into that garage where the camaro was. This guy was a car fanatic, he had two 63' split window vettes, 1 ferrari 1 c5 , 3 c3's, 1 prowler , 1 h1 , 2 mustangs, two jeeps, a ram van with a plow and some more that i know im forgetting.

We ended up going back about two weeks later making a deal, he lowered the price to 5k, an d my dad made me pay half and about 3 days later it was in my driveway.

keepin camaros alive

i had been a diehard mustang "kid" my whole life. mostly because thats what i thought was fast. then i saw smokey and the bandit. that movie introduced the trans am to me. then one i found out about trans ams i found out more about camaros. so i went on in life learning about these amazing cars. well it was my freshman year in highschool my stereo had just been stolen out of my Lumina and so it was time for a new car. my dad told me i was too tall for a camaro or trans am at that time 6'3" about 220lbs so i believed him for a while. then one day we were looking at cars and i saw a red 96 firebird and i said he just for ***** and grins lets see if i fit....................AND I DID. so the search began what really sucks is i didn't do my research i saw a firehawk and thought it was something made up so i passed up that car...big MISTAKE. then i was taking my then girlfirend home and saw a beautiful black camaro with a body kit chrome rims and the works. my dad and i went back that day took it for a test drive and we delivered the check the next day. we pawned my lumina off to the people across the river and made money off that car. So i paid for half the camaro. i had problems ever since with that car, heat, overheating, A/C wouldnt' work, needed tires, i was nearing 130,000 miles and i decided there was too much money to put into it to make it right so after owning it for a year and a half i sold it....funny thing that's about when i broke up with my girlfriend to. so i got rid of two bad omens.

that's the story of my first camaro and hopefully not my last i intend on getting one when i get out of college for a touring car so yeah i will be back just not soon enough.

well i got my car right out of 8th grade. ever since the first time i saw it(grey 89 rs drop top) when i was in 7th grade i wanted it. my brother in law had owned it and i had been telling him that i wanted it for the entire time he had it. when i was 14 my brother in law lost his job and had to sell the camaro so they could pay the bills. he had been trying to sell it for 3k. i got lucky and picked it up for 1500! ha. it needed some work...the spoiler mounts were broken off, the top was...bad to say the least and the driver side door and fender was smashed. i did as much touch up work as i could until i finally decided to fix everything and paint it myself...big mistake but it was a good learning experience and only cost me a couple hundred. i did all the body work really nice and the primer turned out better than i expected... i should have left it like that but i decided to try and paint it and it just turned out ******. through out the time i had it i built up parts of the suspension, headers, exhaust blah blah, new rear end. stuff like that. car was really too fun for me. thats why on 7/17/07 i wrapped it around a pole while fishtailing. broke my pelvis in 3 places and the worst part...i had no more car. i hit dead center of the driver door and the car pretty much folded over itself and there was no way it could be fixed. thats pretty much all i have to say
