Well I do know some of the GN guys who didnt sticker their car last year when they needed an e test had no problem getting the sticker this year with out one.
Not sure if they changed the law for new registered cars, but exempt cars in the past never needed one.
You should be good to go.

I will be doing my 86 this year for the first time in a couple of years. It was due for a test, but they tell me I don't need to have it done now.

As 87's are exempt I believe you're okay, but a quick check at a licence bureau will confirm.

the appraisel is for MTO...i guess it is too much of a hassle to keep track of the value of vehicles older than 20 years ..

Why would MTO want an appraisal? The only reason they would make you go that route is if you are trying to lowball the value for tax purposes. If their book and your value are far apart, you are allowed to have the car appraised to prove is is not worth as much (tax wise) as their book says.

They could give a rat's *** if your car is 50 years old and worth 100 dollars or a hundred million.

Now, the insurance companies are beginning to demand an appraisal on older cars to prove the value of the car they are insuring. I don't have a problem here. They appraise your house and valuables as well. It's only good business on their part to know what the item is worth. New cars are not a problem as they are valued by many sources all the time and their are thousands of them out there to compare.
