I am guessing that the place that mounted them didn't replace the valve stems and damaged one causing a slow leak, then BOOM.

As a side note I had some fun between tire changes with some old 225mm wide uniroyals. Check out the vid section.

As an update I am very pleased to say that Discount Tire is a great business. I talked to them and told them the situation and they agreed that they were at fault. They credited me full price of the blown tire and offered another $80 for trade in on one of my other tires (so I could get a matching rear or front set). So I only had to spend $50 to get 2 new Yokohama AVS ES100 tires that retail at about $150 each (not including install).

well a leaking valvestem wouldnt cause a blowout. a defect in the tire would. ive never heard of a tire blowing out due to improper installation...maybe incomplete installation, like the bead wasnt seated.
