Um... current plans...
I've got so many things on the backburner right now im not sure where to start. So i'll just hit them all at once.
First off i want to apoligize for not being here as much latly as usual. Things have been going real good with my girlfriend latly so i've been spending more and more time with her and her family. Probalme being that when she's around it's rude to be on-line so there you have it. I'll work harder to post but you non-single guys know were i'm coming from.
Anyway, the big thing is that now that Epic's exterior is done... and i mean DONE (even finished the stripes over the spoiler myself)...
only took me two weeks to get sick of the other look. I just now got around to painting it.
Now my mods need to migrate to other areas. The intior is going to get some work. Obiously i hae those shift/e-brake boots coming. Then the dash will get repainted (gota fix the cracks in it too) and the a-pilers will get a new coat. I might even be re-covering the sub-box in leather to follow the stripes... jury is still out on that since no ever sees the box. And i am going to get some red neons/led lighting for the interior too.
Not really exterior related but kinda, the side exiting exaust will be done in the next couple months. The way i have it planning it'll techinally be true duals with the cut outs open and i'm about a week away from landing a set of headers for the LT1 too. It's going to sound so mean. And the side exiting will be the most unique thing i think i've ever done. yay.
Most of the work in the next month will be the engine compartment. Cleaning, painting, modding. The intake and and radiator shrowd have already started the plan. I'm going to bring the stripes threw the engine. The valve covers, the intake manifold, core suport, fuel rail covers, header panel, etc will all be painted to follow the scheme, and the red wire loom will get redone. I'm using this pic as referance...
But to do this it's going to take a lot of tear down and prep. Once it's done the engine compartment may be show ready. So cross your fingers people. Epic is going to rock!

be careful doing the true dual exhaust. you wont have any ground clearance. and what kind of headers are you going with? if youre doing shorties and true dual, im going to laugh at you. hell even with emissions legal shorties it wont be legal having a dual exhaust. you need a y-pipe exhaust to pass smog in cali. oh and the pipes have to exit behind the axle.
damn i guess youre really doing away with smog.
and i disagree with the stripe pattern going into the engine bay, i didnt even like the idea of it in the interior...
most have called your car overdone, now im beginning to think so to.
of course as you know grant, its just my opinion, and i know youre ok with everyone having one, so i just though i'd chime in.

I think it will look nice Grant, but yes, what color is on your seats? It also looks out of place to me.

Well first off, the color on the seats used to be black. It's a faux suede matierial that after the sun has hit it for so long has began to fade. I think a little leather cleaner or something will fix that.
I'm keeping everything smog legal. All the stock pipeing will still be there. I can't have her be a daliy driver and make it as wild as i want. Lord knows I'd love to long tube it, delete the cats and exit out the ground effects. As you know i'm not all about performace like some of you. The side exiting will mainly be for looks and noise. It'll just have a bypass on either side for it to work with the cut-outs open. With them closed it'll run threw the stock system. I'm going to tuck the stock exit up and under so you wont see it. But it'll be there. I'd draw a diagram but i dont feel like it.
Caleb, laugh if you want. I'm doing this my way. And as far as over doing it - you'll see. It'll look good. You may not like it... but it will look good. When was the last time i had a plan that failed miserably?

well it makes no sense to me why you'd buy emissions legal shorties (which are set up to use the stock cats) then take em down into true duals. ive never seen it done, because it doesnt make sense.
doing true duals, regardless of its lack of street use, will cause it to fail the visual. so since thats the case, go with long tubes.
if you really want to make it work, then get shorties, retain stock cats and stock y-pipe all the way to stock catback. but in the i pipe, have a dual y-pipe fabbed and put it into the i pipe. so its like \|/ and each side has a cutout and the center goes to the muffler. that would work best, but as i mentioned before, having piping going sideways under the car is going to have horrible ground clearance. the stock piping is in the driveshaft tunnel so theres no problem, but once you try to go under the driveshaft and torque arm, its going to have to duck down far.
not trying to ruin this, it just doesnt look like you've really thought it out. i guess youre determined to get it done, in which case, good luck, its going to be tricky.

it wont be any worse than an offroad y pipe on longtubes, as long as whoever does it does a nice job. my y pipe comes off the headers and then cuts under the driveshaft into the single I pipe, and its not too bad on clearance. im sure he's looked into it, so i wouldnt worry to much, but im really waiting for the finished product of how it will look and sound. good luck Grant.

your y pipe crosses at a different location. grant can put the piping there, but then he'd need to run it along the side skirts toward the back. if he puts the piping in front of the axle where the side exit is going to go, then he will have an issue because the torque arm and driveshaft are lower there.

i like what your doing with it...im not going to say its overdone, because i feel that it isnt...its what you like and want so go with it...the side exhaust is really sweet...i DEFINITLY love the looks of the stripes on the spoiler...looks alot better
Congrats...i support you through it all
