What is the best starter car

hey everyone, i wanna know what kind of a car is good starter car thats around $8 000 and has a v6 . i was thinking a MKIII supra.

J camel 11-07-2005 07:34 PM

MKIII Supra at age 16?
GO FOR IT!!

ruffyruff 11-07-2005 07:35 PM

go grab yourself a Civic, EK or EG, and modify it!!... you'll be able to corner MAD!!

or.. you can also grab yourself a Prelude... leave it stock and have fun... V6's dont really mean POWERFUL

rabbitman 11-07-2005 08:00 PM

Supras have an inline 6. Almost any car with a V6 is going to kill you on insurance. Might be better off with a 180z, or 240z, and do a sr20det swap. If you keep your eyes open, you'll probably find that combo for around what you are budgeting.

ruffyruff 11-07-2005 08:03 PM

that is very TRUE!!... and supra = 2 door car = sport car = high insurance

civics have cheap insurance, accords have cheap insurance... its better off buying yourslef a semi sport car.. change the suspension.. for about 1k$...

you'll have a gas saving, low insurance, comfortable car

J camel 11-07-2005 08:10 PM

Dont do sr20det. Its slow, and theres no aftermarket support.
Stick to that supra idea. Civics are a good car to learn on, also consider a Mustang.

sr20dets are just gay. The engines break down constantly, theres no power, just a waste of money.
B16 is the way to go!

no civics arnt cheap on insurance. im looking for a 2door h/b EG si, i found one i like, call up the insurance, $4700/year with third party $500,000 coverage. that .
talk to CyroSLASH, hes my age and he apparantly pays $230/month third party (on MKIII supra). if you can get the same rate PM me!!
--> id say supra for first car cause you seem to like supras. dont go with a civic or other then regret.

The problem now is the amount of street racing, speeding, and various other tickets, accidents etc, that has just exploded in the last few years, due to the popularity off the Civic, Golf, Focus, etc. If anyone wants, I've got a nice little Mitsu/Dodge 4cyl pickup cheap. RWD, etc. That'll be cheap on insurance, and a 4SGS engine swap would be so easy.

Something nobody has?

singleturboovertwin 11-07-2005 11:20 PM

a 300zx

buy a old school 300zx turbo 5spd, these cars dont usually have a bunch of retards driving them (civic) so they are somewhat cheap on insurance due to the kind of person driving them. plus they can be made fast for cheep with and intake/ex/boost controller. and you rarely see em on the road. unless u live next to me.

That guy clearly has the car registered in one of his parent's names. There is no way he would be paying so little. He is only 17 years old, which means that he's probably only been driving on his own for a year at the very most, and he's driving a Supra for sakes. When I was 18 and insured my Festiva under my own name, it was something like $290 a month. My friend has a Mk3 Supra Turbo and he pays at least $350 a month and he's been driving for a lot longer then the 17 year old guy.

BTW, a nice cheap and comfortable car, that handles well and has a V6 is the Mazda MX3. It's BARELY got a V6 though, the thing is only a 1.8L. Go take one for a drive and see if you like it. I don't think those cars got the credit they deserved.

Supra_RZ 11-08-2005 07:27 AM

well im not getting a car now, because i don't have the cash for it maybe in 2 years i will. i just wanna see what cars you guys think is good for $8 000

They were fun as long as you let them rev. Not enough torque. But that's what happens when the pistons are the size of a pencil. lol. Those engines did sound cool though.

It was $485/month last december before it was parked for the winter.

No tickets, no accidents.

Being in school and getting good grades I get a discount from my company and its $250ish/month now, or it was, its now off the road, again.
