What to buy?

Hey, I'm new here.

In the market for a car, and I'm not sure what to buy.

The cars I'm looking at are full-size, e.g Impalas, 300M's and the like.. was seriously interested in a 300M, until I read about all the damn recalls on them.

At the moment, the Impala's the current winner, but I'm wondering what else to consider.

Edit: Budget is between $10-15k Canadian

I was looking at those.. insurance is cheap, too.

My only concern is that with the Northstar engine, parts are ridiculously expensive. We've got a fleet of them at work, and knock wood, they've been fine. However, I've been told that head gaskets can go in the vicinity of a couple thousand $$ to fix.

What's the mileage like, anyway?

Charlie_Chaos can only hope to improve
If your good with cars and like older stuff you could put together a really

sharp late 70's-'80's Caddy for less money and have the extra cash for parts.

The benifit is you could have one with a 350ci V8 and the parts are

extreamly common and therefor cheap.

305 are the same . Avoid the ugly stepsister 307. Gutless bullsh*t motor.

I would stay away from the Front wheel drive Impala's they are prone to have wheel bearing issue's. I would suggest a Ford Crown Vic, but and ex-detective's car. They normally are not driven hard and they came in different colours that a normal white cop car.

Yeah, a P71 Vic could be a lot of fun.

My only concern is that I'll be using it to drive to work, so I don't want something that's going to get terrible mileage.

Anybody have any experience with the 4.9 and 5.7 Caddies?

Good call.

I like the Bonnies and the Regals.

We've got a Grand Prix GT at work, and I really don't like it too much.

Just got an insurance quote; the Regal GS is $239/mth vs. the SSEi @ $259.

Those Bonnies are pretty damn tempting, though.
