New Girls here...

Good Morning Everyone,
Three new girls from Michigan are here. (Two girls and one old fart). Found this site from another car website and thought we'd join. Seems like a nice friendly group of people. Now a bit about ourselves: we aren't girly girls...we do have spiders in our car. Not that we like them, they just add to the sinister appeal. Bought a '93 Z two years ago and we are fixing it up. It wasn't in bad shape, just in need of a makeover. Had the car stipped to the skin and repainted. Put on a "stinger style" hood and had the cowl cutout. Swapped the OEM spoiler for an SS spoiler. Also added a strut tower brace, new gas tank, new Flo Master exhaust, all new exterior emblems etc. The interior of the car was completely stripped. I put in Dynamat liner throughout the car, all new carpet, all new interior panels except for A pillars, new dash pad, center console, air vents, shift plate etc. Basically everything inside the car is new. Added two 10" kicker subs in a custom Subthump box along with a Sony Xplode deck. Momo Atomik shift knob and pedals. Rear seat was reupholstered and I embroidered a spider dangling from a web on the back center section. Spiders are also embroidered on the upper door panels. Up front we have two Sparco Torino II seats.
Hillary just said, "You realize your writing a book don't you!" so I'll cut it short now. Just wanted to say Hi and share a bit about our car. Can't wait for spring and here's a few pics.

p.s. 18" Budnik "Raptor" rims on BF Goodrich tires.

Thanks for the welcome(s) guys and no, I've never been to CSF. I might volunteer this year if they still need me.

HA! HA! I guess I had better explain. I'm the old fart. Blue eyes and red hair is all you will get out of me. And the only pics of me would be with a bag over my head. I'm not photogenic. And no, my hair is not the color of carrots either. I'm not that kind of a red head. But anyhow, my husband is an over the road truck driver and really isn't into the Camaro much. It is a bit on the small side for him even tho he used to have a Berger Camaro years ago. The car belongs to me and our two daughters. Hillary will be taking her first road test in a few days so can't officially drive the maro yet and Emily is back at college studying to be a pharmacist which = my retirement. Emy is learing to drive a stick and isn't to bad at it if you don't mind a little whiplash now and then. Even tho I'm an old fart, I'm still the biggest kid I know and I've always loved muscle cars. So it's three girls...no dudes involved.

Great looking LT1, very unique, any mods to the motor?

Not yet but soon enough I hope. I've had a few small parts replaced such as the throttle body sensor etc. as they go bad. Just had a new fuel pump and some kind of ignitor switch associated with the fuel pump put in. Did put in a strut tower brace too. Eventually I'd like a 383 stroker but will beef up the rear first this spring. It likes to drip a bit. Weld in sub frame connectors are also on the list. My cousin is an excellent mechanic and does most of the work on my car and I told him I want some serious horsepower and the torque to go with it. I told him when I stomp on it I want my guts left behind. I don't know what is going to end up being more expensive, all the appearance mods or the performance mods. This is definitely turning into a third child. Guess I better get back to work.

69z-28 01-13-2008 10:25 AM

deff a good idea to get a 12 bolt from moser or strange and put that in before you get a motor thats gonna disintegrate anything you bolt up to the axle or just break the hell out of the factory 7.5". for a motor, you would deff be happy with some heads and cam on a stroker motor. could pull between 400-500 horse and comparable torque without a sweat. what kinda trans? im assuming its a 6 speed as you said your daughter was learning to drive stick? if so, just worry about a cluth to hold the power, the trans will take the rest of it no problem.

subframe connectors are prolly the best mod you can do to the car IMO.

and all LT1s leak, its a fact of life.lol

ITSA6 01-13-2008 10:17 PM

welcome to the site! nice lookin car you have there

SFC's are amazing, one of the best suspension mods possible for our cars due to the amount of roll in the frame. But trust me, throw a cam in it and you'll like the car alot better ;)

Where to buy?

I agree. Any recommendations, brand, long or short and a good place to buy. I'm all ears. I want headers but not sure what to get. I know it is a tight squeeze under the hood and I don't want something that will take away from ground clearance either. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would also like new shocks and can't decide on that either. KYB or whatever they're called, Bilstein.....any other suggestions. I like the stance of my car and don't want it lowered.

GixxerSteph 01-15-2008 10:11 AM

Welcome, nice car, love the spider details.

97z2801ss 01-15-2008 05:45 PM

i have qa1 shocks theyre alright. lil stiff in the back!

SFC are the best mod for the fbody.

and matti agreee wish i could find fbody chickaa

BTW WELCOME TO PROJECTCAMARO

69z-28 01-15-2008 07:55 PM

if you want the car to stay the same height, go with some Hooker or Pacesetter Longtubes. i liked the hookers i had on my T/A although plug changes are a bit of a PITA, but its an LT1, do it with stock manifolds and you will love the headers. get a longtube like the Hooker supercomp tho if you want max performance. you can get them along with an offroad y pipe for around 500 bucks give or take.

oxygen454 04-20-2008 02:45 PM

Is that ram air hood functional? If not it should be lol.

oxygen454 04-21-2008 12:31 AM

Hey as a side question, what are Pacesetter's? Do they specialize in exhaust and headers or other things as well?

Yes they are a company that specializes in exhaust components.

If you are asking if the hood cowl is cutout behind the grill work, yes it is.

I know it's been awhile. So I'll give you the long sad story nobody really wants to here anyhow and then you'll be sorry you commented. :D
I post quit often on another forum but should post my questions here to I guess. This seems to be a nice friendly group. I've just been so darn busy trying to get ahead of the game and when I do, I have to throw my money into something else. Getting ready to have the front and rear bumper repainted on the maro but the Malibu decided it need new brakes all around and also new bearings for the upper strut mounts up front so there goes my paint job for a few more weeks. This really stinks cause I was looking forward to a car show May 4th but I guess there will be others.
But on a happier note, my rear end was a bit drippy so I had a swap done on the maro. Snatched up a nice rear end from someone I know and it seems to be working fine. Had a 3.23 posi and now it's a 3.42 posi with much less miles than what the old one had. Also put in a new chip from the Madtuner. By the way, that guy is great. Talked to him on the phone and he is very helpful and the service is speedy. Also have new drag bags and a big :woot: for those. Before I'm sure I looked like a pimpin' low rider but not anymore. That rear end is nice and solid feeling now. Doesn't bounce up and down over road dips anymore. Also had UMI 3 point sfc put in and those also make a big difference as well. And I have a DMH e-cutout that my cousin did not install. He thinks I'm going to burn up the bottom of my car. I've heard that it isn't a good idea to sit with it open idleing but can't see why it would be a problem to drive with it open a bit. All that air flow has got to pull the hot exhaust away from the car. So now I've got to find someone to install this thing for me. I love that deep throaty rumble from a powerful engine and to have it enhanced....well it just doesn't get any better than that. Gota' get it installed.

Well now that I've caught my breath are you gonna tell me to shut up and go away? Do I have enough posts to finally put up some pics?

ITSA6 04-22-2008 08:41 AM

uh haha you might need one more post i don't remember though. Yeah i hate that things cost money. my taurus had a speaker go out but i decided to spend money on my malibu instead and now suffer with the cracking speaker. but yeah stick around feel free to ask all your questions too!

You really don't want to see pics of me lest you suffer a fate worse than death. I can tell you right now I'm not some young, hot thing and I never pretend otherwise. I'm just a big kid that loves muscle cars. I guess some of my personality shows in my car and I'll definitely show pics of that. And as far as my daughters go, no pics of them right now either. Sorry!

69z-28 04-22-2008 01:15 PM

pics or ban.

j/k

as far as the cutout goes, its not a problem at all. just make sure its no around any fuel lines or nitrous lines which is nearly impossible on these cars anyways since they run on the opposite side of the exhaust. the car wont get too hot or burned up underneath from just a straight exiting exhaust.

BwaHaHa 04-22-2008 07:38 PM

Well if you insist but don't say I didn't warn you. Thank goodness for my new drag bags and subframe connectors.

Yea if I looked like that, I'd need more than clothes. I was thinking maybe a body bag. As far as more Camaro pics go, I uploaded several to the members category two days ago. Woo-hoo...finally have enough posts to upload pics. Now I feel special!
