I found a good deal on a 1999 Honda Accord. Is the mileage to bad for me to purchase?

More or less. but it will depend also if they are highway miles or city miles. highway miles are better.

Its not bad for Honda. Make sure it drives fine and there are no noises coming from the engine!

I have a 1988 Oldsmobile (made by General Motors) with 178,000 miles on it....get as much info as you can.get the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) from the car, since its a 1999, should be pretty visible when looking down through the windshield glass on the driver side.try going to your states' bmv website, (now here in Ohio) you can type in the VIN and get a brief history of the cars' mileage(they probably won't give previous owner name, address, etc. Again, here in Ohio, the date a title was given and the (hopefully) true mileage is listed.Also try carfax.com for about $30.00 you can get just about all the dirt on this ride.Happy Hunting and best of luck to you!

Well it all depends on the price. But, A 1999 honda Accord should have around 96,000 miles by this time. NOrmal usage of a car a year would be around 12,000 miles per year. So if you add it up you will come out with 96,000 miles. So The car is 39,000 miles over what should be.

135K miles averages out to about 16.8K/yr. That's not too unusual. Much depends on the previous work done on the car, type of driving (highway vs city), location (coastal, cold, hot etc) and certainly price. I've had several Japanese cars that made it past the 150K mark before significant $$ investment in repairs were required. I'm buying a car for my college bound daughter now - and wouldn't touch this one personally. My biggest concern would be major components going out while she's away at school. If it were for my younger daughter at home - I might consider it since I'm close buy to help with repairs. Bottom line: with that milage look for some major components to go out soon. But if the price is right - you might be able to swallow this one.

That depends on many different things. If the car has been well taken care of AND the timing belt has been replaced then that is a 'normal' amount of mileage for that year car.Make sure to ask what maintance work has been done. If the timing belt has never been replaced, it will surley need to be done eventualy. That is an easy $500 + repair depending on where you go. A well taken care of accord can go past 200,000 miles, but you will need to spend some money on repairs along the way. Things such as: timing belt, water pump, altenator, radiator hoses, spark plugs, drive belts, ect. Make sure to ask if any of the above items have been replaced. If none of it has ever been done, then chances are you will need to factor in the cost of these repairs, because they are in the mileage range of needing repair or simply breaking down.
