Does it heat up when you slow down, and then when you speed up again it goes back down?
If so, it's your head gaskets. There are two common ways you can tell, is there any white "smoke" coming from the tail pipe? If it's cold outside it'll be hard to tell, but another one is to check your antifreeze. Fill it back up if you haven't, drive it and if the temp goes up, stop let the car cool off and check the level of the antifreeze again. If you go through an abnormal amount of antifreeze, it's most likely your head gaskets.
I'd check those first, and if not then I'd check your fans. Leave your car parked and running for a long period of time (30-40 minutes probably) and see if your fans kick on. You'll notice if they don't or if they do.
Hope this helps.
