Just purchased an used Honda 1994 Accord.?

I noticed that 10W30 oil has been used in this Model.I have also a 1998 Civic which has had only 5W30 since new and it has never used one drop of oil since new. This Civic by the way, has 235,000 miles and is still strong....With the '94 Accord should I replace the oil with 5W30, or continue to use the 10W30 that the service records confirm.

My husband uses 10W40 on our 94 Accord and 95 Del Sol, but we live in Tx and it doesn't get cold enough to use 5W30.

find the sticker under the hood or look in the owners manual and use that, but dont stress it, as long as it is changed often enough the 2 types of oil are close enough that you can use either, if you change your own oil and dont want to buy 2 different kinds for both cars then that will be fine too, the second number is what really matters anyway, just keep that second number between 30 and 40 and you will be fine

doesnt really matter... the 5W30 old would run smoother because of its low viscosity
