A Honda-anything is NEITHER a good race car, NOR practical for daily driving.
Ever hear of US-made pickup trucks? Cheapest rear-wheel drive V-8's that money can buy. Get 1960 - 1980's GM fullsize with a 350 or 305 small block, the performance parts for those engines are by far the cheapest and most plentiful in the world.

mustangs are front heavy, tons of carburator trouble, slow, and completely overrated. an audi is a quattro (4 wheel drive) which is perfect for northern weather for snow traction and even lots of southerners have them since they are so luxurious, sporty, and practical. an a4 is roughly 30 grand base model, and plenty of used audi's with low milage sell for great deals. they last forever if you treat them right. I have a 1995 S6 with no more than 100,000 miles on it, and it runs just like it did when it was brand new. dont be another mustang owner

It all depends on what type of racing you plan on doing. All cars have merits so you can start really cheap. A good source of information is Grassroots Motorsports magazine.
In my opinion these would be the cars to get if your budget is low and you also want a daily driver.
1/4 Mile - Get an older Mustang. Something in the mid-90's to current. Lots of aftermarket upgrads available. Pretty solid motor. Good to learn how to launch from the line.
AutoX - Older Honda Civic or a Miata. Both cars handle well and are alot of fun racing through the cones. You can learn how to drive and also drive it to work and get good mpgs.
Track Days - Miatas or Integras or Mustangs... lots of choices here. If you have extra cash get an older M3.
As mentioned, all cars have merits and they can all be driven fast. It all depends how you want to tune them.
Good luck!

BMW 650i is packing a V8 and 360 or so horsepower. My dad has one and he loves it. Uses it for every day driving and its very comftorable. You can transform it into a manual transmission from automatic at any time and you can youse the paddles as it shifts down automatically. Beautiful car.

Those kinds of cars were thought up of 50 years ago genius, it's called a Lotus Elise or Ferrari Challenge Stradale or Porsche GT3.
Drive to the track, race , drive home.
Just watch Le Mans or any racing and buy the street version of seen race car. Every race car has to be homologated with a street version for sale in ALMS or any other GT racing.
The no brainer would be to type in "race" or "racing" into google.
If you go to an auto show like the Detroit Auto Show you will see what manufacturers make minivans and crossovers and what manufacturers make only race/sports cars.
