94 civic DX

Hey, is it really worth putting I/H/E on this 102hp engine? I've heard mixed oppinions on this subject, mostly being told to just do the engine swap. If I did go with I/H/E could I push the hp up. would 120hp be realistic with these mods?

I'll appreciate any input, so flame on.

yes. that would be realistic hp gain. go to a site such as http://www..com/product_sect...ine.php?manu=1, their B16A1 with 158hp is only 800 bucks. better engines=more money. it all depends what you want to do in the long term, ie a quick power fix or performance car with all the goodies

the ignorant talk way too soon
you think its as easy as just dropping a motor in....well its not alot more is needed than you think

1st of all a SWAP is probably your best option tho which swap is totally up to your wallet and your driving style.
So ill give you a quick little idea and about how much it will cost.
1ST IDEA B16A2 Hydro tranny swap (LEGIT I WOULD SAY ABOUT 3200 ish installed) that would include engine computer transmission shafts header distributor intake manifold shifter linkage motor mounts etc)
THIS A COMPLETE kind of drop in thing minus the wiring for vtec
then you can also do the
GSR - 4000
TYPE R - 4800
B18A/B - 2400
B16B - 4700
H22 (more difficult and more problematic due to the increased weight modifications needed and more torque and the fact the burn oil out the box from factory)
now on a cheaper note you could also do a (mini-me) d series swap
d16y8 is a decent little motor in which you could use all your original stuff but change the motor and ecu and wire for vtec
also the d15b vtec motor is good
you have alot of options if you wanna go with these options i would say they would cost you roughly
800 - 1000 complete
and with a more compression and better all around performance motor such as a b16a2 they would respond better to the same mods as the motor you are considering doing the bolt on's too
if you need anything else explained more into detail just ask

^^^ hes right :thumbsup . i forgot that you had to use the hydraulic tranny instead of the cable tranny. it would run you about 3grand. hey 79camaro, what about the DOHC ZC vs the D15B ???

the zc is a decent motor...but correct me if im wrong but didnt they come in civics from 88-91 (ef) so they would be obd-0...

they are both decent motors but i would prefer the d15b due to its newer design since its a 92-95 production motor vs the ZC of the later years...
very similar motor except that the ZC is a 1.6L vs the d15b 1.5L but the d15b are a great revving motor and pretty peppy compared to most D series not to mention since the car is a factory D Series you can pretty well mix and match anything

i'd say you could easily do a b16 swap for around $2000, granted you do all of the work yourself...its not hard. I actually just finished putting a b16 into a friends eg sedan, took 2, 10 hour days, and that includes 5 trips to canadian tire, a trip to honda and two trips to 2 other shops for parts.
A 2nd gen b16 swap can be found relatively complete for $1600-2000 depending on what all it includes. If it was already in an eg even better b/c chances are it has all of the mounts necessary (just a few integra mounts and you can reuse some of the civic ones), linkages, axles, harness wired for vtec, ecu, rad hoses (you will need 94+ integra gsr ones), and i would change the timing belt and water pump while its out.
My buddy paid $1500 for a b16 w/hydro tranny, axles, linkages, mounts
$150 for tbelt, water pump, tensioner
$150 to chip his p06
$400 for the new exedy clutch
$200 for new lightened flywheel
$100 for rad hose, cam seal, valve cover gasket, alternator belt, coolant, oil, tranny fuild and all the other odds and ends.
So thats $2500, mind you he did replace the clutch and flywheel, which wasn't necessary b/c there was lots of meat on the one that was included, but it is however a good idea if you can afford it b/c its much much easier to change while the engine is out.

if the guy is struggling with performance options in his car it's more than likely that he wont be able to swap a motor in himself...
It's not as easy as many make it out to be tho it's pretty well the sbc swap of the imports these days...
fairly easy if the knowledge and tools are there
ummm...we're talking b16a2 with papers and some sort of warranty
i'd say $2500 from Big Japanese auto parts and such
not bad could get better price but you dont know the condition of the motor you are getting
I pieced my old swap together and what a swap it was for the money
Used Integra type R tranny - 1000 BJAP
Used b16B complete engine - My guy $1300
P28 ECU chipped Hondata - 550
all together with miscallaneous the swap cost me roughly 3500 installed
performed like crazy and i knew all i had
