to get more torque out of a B16 is gonna be work,
your rod angle limits you.
Stroke the motor if you can,
Or swap a bottom end.

Honestly I stroked my b16b for the reason you're looking for but honestly not needed in some instances. For NA there is no replacement for displacement. But if you're going forced induction it seems the b16 is your best platform its rod stroke ratio is ideal and best in hondas platform to make power. It's efficient at making power. Turbo b16 with some serious work would be a killer and be a safer better platform than some others.
I loved my b16b 1.9L torquey high hp motor but there's advantages and disadvantages to going any route. If you're looking to make great power on a b16 and be almost factory looking get a ported and polished bare GSR head. pair of Crower cams i say a stage 2 would be nice. Upgraded valvetrain and valves 1 mm larger. Cometic head gasket Edelbrock or obx or whomever you want Intake manifold good header and flowing exhaust. Chrome or some custom ecu tuning and you'll be happy believe me im planning on building a really clean EF one day with this setup ill be selling it afterwards...i just want to do a straight restoration and clean looking vehicle. Milano red EF hatch. B16a1 or b18b with some nice goodies.

to get more torque i'd say swap the bottom end. Personally i would use the b20 but everyone has their preference.

Buddy club Spec III+ cams help for torque but i'll agree with swapping bottom ends. ls/vtec or b20/vtec
